With so many of us using smartphones, tablets and other wireless devices to connect to the internet in order to manage our job search, our activities and our lives, finding Wi-Fi hotspots can really help. Especially those of us who are unemployed or underemployed, saving money on data charges by using free Wi-Fi is always a good thing. The problem is that most places that offer a free wireless connection are also restaurants or shops. It attracts more customers, but what if you just need a place to get connected and don't want to have to spend money for it?
If you live in NYC, there is a new solution. According the NYC Tumblr, the city has just announced a pilot program to bring free Wi-Fi to the masses. The program will offer Wi-Fi hotspots at payphone kiosks around the city. Just starting out, they have announced 10 locations and they have plans expand the coverage over the next few months.
For now, there are only 10 locations, but anyone can go there and log on for free. Here is a list of the locations, make sure to put them on your map the next time you're out and need to get connected.
