A SLM Architect . Leads the consulting team in planning, analysis, development and testing of solutions to ensure they meet client expectations. . Leads customer teams to optimize ways in which information technology supports their working practices. . Investigates the current business processes to identify problems, complexities, non-value-added steps, and -inefficiencies that could be improved. . Maps customer processes to current and future technology through a solid understanding of both PTC's software capabilities and the designed usage of the software. . Leads the analysis and creation of project deliverables, spanning process design to system design & owns the specifications (e.g. System & Functional Description Documents) that drive the implemented PTC solutions. . Assigns tasks to project members and reviews the team's work products to ensure client needs are met or exceeded. Supervises and motivates the project teams as appropriate. . Engages customers at the functional manager levels and across functional groups such as technical documentation, spares, and support organisations to drive alignment. Comfort around higher management is also expected. . Provides direction & recommendations to management and business development teams on project status, risk mitigation and solution value opportunities. . Contributes to PTC's intellectual property and assets through research, documentation of leading practices, example work products, methods development and sales collateral. . The ideal candidate should be able to: . Professionally interact and nurture relationships with customers and cross-functional colleagues . Clearly demonstrate an ability to work without immediate supervision . Understand enterprise architecture environments . Work with on-shore and off-shore development teams . Mentor and support the professional development of more junior consultants . Have a working knowledge of the PTC/Arbortext line of products: o Arbortext Architect o Arbortext Editor o Arbortext Styler o Arbortext Advanced Print Publisher and/or Arbortext Publishing Engine o Arbortext CSDB for S1000D, Arbortext LSA Interface for S1000D . Experience in the fields below would be a distinct advantage: o Prior knowledge of product lifecycle management (PLM) systems such as Windchill PDMLink or related o Administration of web systems (Webservers, Servlet Engines, LDAP, IIS, etc.) o Development in Web-related technologies (Java, HTML/CSS, PHP, XML/XSL/DTD, HTML, etc.) o General IT skills (Windows, UNIX, Network, PC/Hardware Know-How, Utilities, Scripting, etc.) . Have a working knowledge of technical information industry standards.
Education and other requirements: . Bachelors or Master's Degree in Computer Science, MIS, Engineering or other technical profession. . Minimum 5 years of experience on industry projects in a related role . Availability for a consistently high rate (up to 75%) of overnight travel during weekdays Preferred: . Knowledge of Technical Information development and delivery process. . Knowledge of Parts and Services processes. . Knowledge of Warranty and Service Lifecycle processes. . Consulting experience in a manufacturing environment . Experience in a technical leadership role
