PURPOSE:
* The technician will work in a large product development lab where they will be expected to run experiments independently or under the direction of engineers and the customers. The experiments will be around product validation testing using common lab equipment as well as assist the manufacturing operation around special failure analysis and metrology equipment. PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES/DUTIES:
* Will be responsible for learning all of the customer's requirements for the lab testing in their area and be able to perform these tests in accordance with the set standards. * Will act either independently or under an engineer's guidance to carry out experiments * Must have strong interpersonal skills * Must be comfortable presenting reports and data to a customer or internal engineering teams * Will be expected to help drive corrective action by direct interaction with other team members * Possess good computer skills, ability to review and present data / findings. * May be responsible for tracking, coordinating and scheduling different experiments at one time * Obtain any specified training as required to run certain lab equipment. * This could include periodic trips to the customer's or Flextronics labs for a few weeks of training on their standards. * May be required to work second shift
* Prior work as an engineering technician in a role around engineering labs, product development or reliability / failure analysis labs. Must be able to quickly learn to use new tools and equipment and be able to run them will very little oversight or follow up. * Associates degree in engineering or material science. Preferred areas of focus are in mechanical, electrical engineering or materials sciences around common manufacturing materials (pbca, components, solder chemistries, flux). DESIRED (NICE-TO-HAVE) MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
* Backgrounds in the following equipment is a plus: XRay, electron microscopes, potting & cross sectioning, pull testing, digital or optical measurement systems, force measurements, shock testing, drop testing, thermal testing, package testing, and vibration testing. Will be expected to use a subset of this equipment to perform experiments, record results and help analyze the failures.
