Posting date: December 3, 2012 Job Title: Planning and Logistics Manager Department: Service Logistics Reports to: Service Director Supervises: Buyer Planners, Master Data Specialists and Import/Export Specialists Essential Duties and Responsibilities * Responsible for planning and purchasing strategies of service parts, accessories, upgrades and consumables. Ensure strategies are used consistently across all product lines and support inventory goals and on time shipment objectives * Hire, train, supervise, and mentor service supply chain personnel. * Lead sourcing initiatives to identify and certify 3rdParty Suppliers to support the Multi-Vendor Services (MVS) business * Publish department metrics that support divisional KBM’s. * Expedite and escalate late deliveries with factory directors or service leadership as necessary. * Drive excess and obsolescence reviews and disposal of obsolete inventory process. * Manage new product introduction inventories, and monitor through Lifecycle process until retirement, including all activities related to inventory and procurement. * Implement inventory reduction strategies to minimize excess inventory in US distribution center. * Manage Supplier Info Record and governance of service suppliers * Lead and/or participate on Process Improvement teams to drive cost savings and process improvement. * Manage external relationship with FedEx. Conduct regular business reviews driving continuous improvement through key metrics, scorecards and root cause/corrective action processes based on supplier performance * Responsible for the accuracy of inventory for the FedEx Distribution Center and field based representatives. * In conjunction with Finance, responsible for coordinating and completing annual physical inventories for 250+ field engineers and site locations and distribution locations. * Manage logistics processes to ensure seamless customer service between the factories and Commercial Operations for delivering instruments and spare part consolidated orders. * Other duties as assigned Specific Scope Data * Manage a master plan that drives annual purchases of ~$15M annually. * Responsible for maintaining service inventory below stated divisional days of supply (DOS) goals * Manage planning and inventory levels to achieve stated divisional on time delivery goals * Review and verify inventory obsolescence and reserve program. * Authorized to write departmental procedures. * This position directly impacts the division’s ability to serve customers with on-time deliveries. * Some travel required (5-10%). Minimum Education and Experience Requirements * BS degree in Business, Materials Management, or related field. * 5 – 10 years experience in planning and procurement, preferably in a service environment * 5+ years in a supervisory and/or managerial position preferred * APICS certification preferred. * Working knowledge of SAP is required * Working knowledge of MRP principles and materials management is required * A combination of job related experience and ongoing educational progress may be considered in lieu of BS degree.
