The Office Ireland Development Team is part of the worldwide multi-billion dollar Office business. The team is at the core of accelerating the transformation of the Office consumer business. We are especially focused on the experience for buying and owning an Office subscription and are fundamentally reimagining the products and services that we offer to consumers, the way in which we sell and distribute them as well as the nature of our ongoing relationship with our customers. Role Description: As a Program Manager in Office, you will own key scenarios that are pivotal to the future of the Office business. You will be responsible for taking the lead in framing the landscape for your scenarios, defining the solution and then delivering the value proposition. You will collaborate with Microsoft teams across the globe in planning, design and execution of these scenarios to ensure an integrated, seamless experience. The experiences and infrastructure you design will be best in class. You will work closely with your development and test counterparts in refining your designs and executing on the delivery to hit key milestones for the Office business. As the owner of these scenarios, you will be accountable for their successful delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
Become an expert in the complex, interdependent, Office business model.
Understand the competitive landscape and how it relates to the Office business.
Identify the key scenarios and investments needed to propel the Office business forward.
Formulate, lead and build consensus around a shared vision for these key scenarios that spans multiple engineering and business teams in Microsoft.
Create high level storyboards and architectures to make your proposals real and tangible for partners and team members.
Brainstorm with peers and colleagues around the world to explore the problem space and break down the scenario into smaller components, sub scenarios and features.
Work closely with your feature crew, consisting of developers and testers on the technical implementation, paying specific attention to finding efficient designs that are robust, scalable and testable.
Write clear technical specification detailing functionality, data flow and user experience.
Work with your feature crew throughout the development lifecycle to resolve open issues, manage the bug count for the features and scenarios and report status and progress to various levels of management.
Incorporate feedback at each milestone and refine the experience.
As the owner of key scenarios, present these at major reviews with senior management and stakeholders.
Own the scenario post delivery.
Qualifications
BSc in Computer Science, Degree in Electrical/Electronic engineering or an equivalent qualification
Experience in shipping software, from early product definition and scoping to detailed specification, implementation and roll-out phases.
Experience in online service delivery and operations.
Proven ability to manage multiple work streams and/or projects concurrently, and deliver on-time
Proven track record of driving high-impact projects that require strategic thinking, analysis, business planning and execution
Proven ability to innovate, with designs that go beyond what customers ask for directly.
Experience working effectively with remote partners, ideally on a global basis
