PWR LOCA & ECCS Analysis:
The PWR LOCA & ECCS Analysis organization is a technical unit of the Nuclear Analysis section which is located within the Engineering and Plants department. The Nuclear Analysis section is responsible for safety analysis, methods development, reload support, radiation transport, criticality evaluations, and thermal-hydraulic support for operating plants.
The Loss-of-Coolant Accident (LOCA) analysis group prepares and applies nuclear reactor thermal-hydraulic models for plant safety analyses and is involved in the preparation of engineering documents (calculations, reports, functional requirements, etc.) in support of emergent issues, fuel reloads, new reactor core design and licensing, power uprates, plant modifications, etc. Job Description:
AREVA is seeking an Engineering Intern, PWR LOCA & ECCS Analysis for our facility in Lynchburg, VA.
You will work closely with engineers in the group in to understand the analysis requirements and ensure successful completion of various tasks. Principally, you will work with UNIX, LINUX, and Windows operating systems on server platforms. All candidates must meet the following minimum requirements in order to be considered for this opportunity. Candidates who exceed minimum qualifications may be considered for a higher level position. * High School diploma. * A rising Junior working towards a BS in Nuclear or Mechanical Engineering or Computer Science. The following requirements are desired and will be used to differentiate all candidates who apply for this position * Ability to develop input and use engineering computer codes to perform: * Loss of Coolant Accident analyses. * Perform Small Break Loss of Coolant Accident analyses. * Perform methods assessment/analyses to demonstrate that licensing requirements are satisfied. * Component design/performance assessments for plant modifications and/or component replacements and repairs. * GPA of 3.0 or higher TRAVEL: Sporadic (5%) domestic travel.
