Technical Consultant - GIS Technician - 1300081 Description Itron is looking for a GIS Technician to join our project team in Vancouver, British Columbia. This role will provide highly visible customer support through the design of wireless networks and support of sophisticated mapping applications. The candidate must have strong troubleshooting skills with excellent oral and written communications. The ideal candidate will have strong development experience with utility application interfaces, including real time interfaces with meter modeling and SCADA. Must understand and have hands-on experience working with data projections and coordinate systems. Experience with MapInfo is highly preferred. Duties & Responsibilities 1. Design and support of wireless network and mapping applications. 2. Ability to find and manipulate database information using SQL queries. 3. Consult with customer and supervisor to plan layout of equipment by validating coverage models for the purpose of updating RF Propagation Models. 4. Provide on-site technical assistance to investigate, troubleshoot and repair equipment. 5. Analyze data and inspection findings to recommend corrective action. 6. Develop and conduct training on the installation and safe operations of the equipment to both internal and external customers. 7. Recommend modifications to eliminate future problems. 8. Develop reports based on field investigations. 9. Provide a communication link between the customer and the company to ensure effective service is provided.
