Data Warehouse Business Analyst

DEPARTMENT Business Analysis (BA) team supporting the Enterprise Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence group. POSITION DESCRIPTION We are looking for a Business Analyst with Data Warehouse experience to work on strategic Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence initiatives. The IT Data Warehouse Business Analyst is a critical member of a team focused on the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of a strategic, active data warehouse. This position is responsible for defining requirements, performing system analysis, and producing requirements-related documentation for projects and system enhancements for our new and existing Data Warehouse applications. Examples of this documentation include, but are not limited to Business Requirements Document, Use Cases and report mockups. Using outstanding interpersonal and technical skills, this position will act as a liaison between our business, development, and testing teams. You will also be able to work independently within a team, receiving general direction with occasional work product reviews. This position is based in Stamford, CT. SPECIFIC PROJECT RELATED RESPONSIBILITIES Ø Translate Business Requirements. Work with project stakeholders to translate their requirements into something that can be built by IT. Serve as liaison between the business and the development teams, ensuring the best technical solutions are developed for the business needs. Help the development team understand business processes by creating diagrams and supporting documentation as needed. A key skill needed in this part of the process is the data warehouse business analyst's ability to distill the differing messages and needs of project stakeholders into a single, consistent vision. Ø Lead Requirements Process. Facilitate requirements meetings with business and technology teams. ü Drive and challenge business users on their assumptions of how they will successfully execute their plans. ü This includes eliciting, documenting, and validating requirements using interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, business process descriptions and workflow analysis. Ø Translate Technical Issues. ü Break down technical and architectural complexities so that project stakeholders can easily understand any issues that arise. ü Bridge the understanding between business and technical teams by developing a rapport with the business teams and a deep understanding of existing business processes. ü Develop deep understanding of source systems, business usage, DW transformations and business logic, data issues, etc. Ø Support Quality Assurance Work with project stakeholders to validate their requirements and be a liaison between project stakeholders during the Testing phases of projects. Qualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is required. Data Warehouse Previous experience working with an enterprise data warehouse is highly preferred. Understanding of Data Warehouse architecture. Familiar with relational databases. Experience with ETL concepts, SQL and data mapping. Experience with BI tools - e.g. Microstrategy. Soft Skills Excellent verbal and written communications skills Ability to work with team members and stakeholders at all levels, in a positive and team-affirming manner. Strong self-management skills, including the ability to manage time and workload against priorities and objectives. Attentive to detail and follow through. Ability to execute in a timely and accurate manner.
