As a Summer Intern for this position, you will be part of a continuous improvement initiative driven by Altera Quality Assurance to improve performance metrics of quality such as product issue resolution. You will identify what to collect, how to collect it and how to analyze the data. Your specific responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:
* Work with various job functions to understand current customer, supplier, and internal issue reporting and tracking systems.
* Consolidate and analyze all issues and status for the last 3 years.
* Develop metrics that demonstrate effectiveness/efficiency of issue resolution.
* Develop and automate reporting system in order to pull data from all existing systems and to provide accurate metric updates as well as status.
Deliverables:
* Current situation: flowchart of how current systems are used and what for.
* “Should Be” situation: specification of what data to collect, how to collect it and how to analyze it.
* Solutions identified to pull and analyze data from multiple sources.
* Automated and configurable report generation for use with customers, or for internal development, suppliers, and internal operations.
Context:
* Product issue resolution effectiveness and efficiency are critical to the success of a growing company. It is vital that the correct data be collected to correctly assess and improve the issue resolution process. It is true of any other quality indicator. Additional quality indicators might be added to the scope of this internship.
The successful candidate's minimum qualifications will include the following:
* 2 years minimum working towards BS in Engineering, Physical Sciences, or equivalent.
* Outstanding communication skills, written and verbal.
* Proficiency in data analysis methodologies.
* Ability to work with minimal supervision.
* MS Excel, Access, and database programming proficiency.
* No relocation will be provided for this internship.
