Co-Op opportunity for a talented new graduate to join a team of software professionals on developing Greenplum Database, a massive scale parallel database and information processing platform. Our customers are worldwide and include Fortune 500 companies. They heavily rely on our software not only to quickly find the “gold” in the huge amount of data they have collected, but also to enable them to massively cleanse, analyze, mine and arbitrarily manipulate information for their companies.
As a member of the Database QA Engineering team, you will be involved in testing the Greenplum database engine and in developing test automation.
Job Focus: • Test, analyze and identify defects within the Greenplum database engine • Implement and extend existing automation test suites and test tools written in Python and Perl
Job Duties: • Work closely with Developers and QA to develop test plans for Greenplum database engine • Perform root cause analysis and diagnostic experiments for bug submissions • Write automated test cases and test APIs • Various responsibilities as required for a small company
Requirements • Strong problem solver; strong abstract thinker • Strong programming skills, and extensive experience with object-oriented programming languages such as C++ or Java, Python is a plus • Strong course work and practical experience in Relational Databases, SQL, PL/SQL • Familiarity with Unix programming environments and networking concepts • Projects or experience in the following areas: · Distributed Systems · Parallel Computing · Massively Parallel Processing (MPP) architecture · Query Processing · Fault-tolerant Systems · Data Warehouse • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously • Ability to work in a fast paced environment with little guidance at times • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) including ability to write clear and concise technical design documents • Must have a BS degree in a technical discipline, preferably CS, with minimum GPA of 3.5
