High school graduate or equivalent education; knowledge of arithmetic computations, including fractions
Knowledge of spelling and grammar; ability to reason logically and creatively, follow procedures, perform routines
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; ability to work cooperatively with others.
Willingness and ability to do detailed work requiring a high degree of mental concentration; demonstrated capacity for development as evidenced by work history, academic attainment or well- defined occupational or vocational interests
Candidates selected for this classification must successfully pass the apprenticeship and be ready to move into the System Administrator classification within 12 months
The Apprentice System Administrator, under close supervision, receives intensive training in the maintenance of operational support of a local area network in an office environment.
Tasks and Responsibilities
Takeover Phase:
Assists with deploying desktops, laptops, printers and telephones
Assists with training staff
Assists in updating the Procedure Manuals
Assists in Operational Readiness Testing, as required
All Other Phases:
Learns to manage the inventory of equipment to ensure that business continuity is maintained
Receives intensive training for responsibilities associated with the end user support of general office tools which includes troubleshooting and problem solving for access to various external systems like the mainframe, applications, internet and mail systems
Escalates problems and issues in conformity with the escalation process for technical and administrative resolution
Provides entry level desktop and LAN support and provides basic training on network and use of office tools at a local site
Performs related work as required
Keeps current with continuously evolving health care practices, equipment and technology
