Position Summary:
Designs and codes new reports, programs and other software and system components; tests all code written or modified; partners with testing team for regression and quality assurance testing; collaborates with customers and end users; assists other programming staff in analysis and research of issues; may implement relational database design and modeling using the appropriate relational database software; may perform maintenance and backup functions for database.
Performs needs analysis of clients and end users; researches, plans, designs and develops one or more components of a single larger system or entire moderate or small systems. Writes or revises system and operation documentation for complex new and existing programs and systems. Researches and designs the use of new technologies; makes recommendations for changes or improvements; may serve as a resource and technical expert to clients and less experienced staff. Participates in or leads portions of the planning, researching, designing and evaluation of software.
Requirements:
Bachelorâ?Ts degree or foreign equivalent in information systems, computer science or a science or math field plus 5 years experience in the job offered or in a related occupation such as Programmer Analyst or similar duties under a different job title, to include experience in the following: Java and J2EE technologies (EJB, JSP/SERVLET, and Eclipse); Spring; Web Services; Hibernate; Object-Oriented techniques including use of design patterns, XML, ANT or similar build technologies and open source technologies.
Position location is Elkridge, MD.

Physical and Mental Demands: Ability to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel; talk or hear over 2/3 of the time; reach with hands and arms up to 1/3 of the time.
Repetitive motion using back, shoulders, arms, hands, and fingers entering data into PC over 60 minutes at a time.
Ability to lift up to 10 pounds.
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of manager, clients, customers and the general public.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral diagram or schedule form.
