In so doing, this role will collaborate in a cross-organizational way to align both corporate and client business vision with technology capabilities and statements of problems or needs. Preferred Skills: To be considered for the position of Senior UNIX System Administrator, you should have: * Bachelor's degree in MIS, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics or equivalent professional experience. * 6+ years experience of administering AIX operating system. * Extensive knowledge of IBM AIX to include installations, upgrades, and application of patches. * System performance tuning and performance troubleshooting. * Thorough understanding of JFS and JFS2 file systems and logical volume management. * Ability to write shell scripts to automate tasks. Perl scripting is a plus. * Understanding of TCP/IP Networking and troubleshooting. * Experience supporting standard UNIX services (BIND, Sendmail, NFS, FTP, SSH, DNS, Syslog facility) * AIX pSeries configuration and maintenance. HMC command line. * Tivoli Storage Manager Server and Client configuration, including TDP for Databases. * Knowledge of IBM SAN best practices, including configuring RAID arrays and custom zoning. * Knowledge of IBM Storage Manager Client and SAN Volume Controller (SVC). * Understanding of and ability to administer AIX HACMP. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills. * Experienced with AIX application support: DB2, WebSphere, HTTP Server, LDAP. * Experience with Kerberos is a plus * Expereince with IBM VIO is a plus * Experience with Secure NFS * Experience with BladeLogic and enterprise monitoring tools is a plus. * Server hardening procedures a plus. Self-motivated and with the ability to work with little to no supervision. Must have good team, organizational and planning skills and stringent time management skills to balance dynamic workloads in a complex environment. Responsibilities: As Senior UNIX System Administrator you will be responsible for: * Support of AIX production, test and development servers. * Performing UNIX technical analysis and operational support of AIX and Linux environments. * Operation and maintenance of the OS including application of patches and upgrades. * Hardware / OS performance analysis and tuning, enhancements and corrective actions. * Script development to automate processes and monitor system performance. * Providing configuration and operation support of IBM FastT, DS4800, DS8300 and Megamouth. * All phases of environment life cycle to include hardware setup, configuration, capacity planning. * Interface with the customer at meetings to gather project requirements. * On call and after hours maintenance support required. * Support EIDS maintenance activities, second weekend monthly.
