ANALYTIC BUSINESS CONSULTANT, STRATEGIC PLANNING AND MODELING
The Strategic Planning and Modeling group (also known as the SPaM group) is an analytics team that works through an internal consulting model to support operational innovation and operations strategy in HP. Reference: The team works in partnership with subject matter experts in HP's business units to solve business problems using advanced analytical and modeling capabilities, excellent consulting skills, and world-class expertise in supply chain as well as other domains. SPaM has been supported HP organizations around the world for more than 20 years by catalyzing significant improvements in profitability and asset management. The team also cultivates strong connections with the academic community to help HP businesses apply the latest process and business innovations. SPaM supports HP businesses mainly on supply chain and operations problems that are analytically complex and involve either a strategic decision or process transformation. Problem areas include supply chain analysis and design, forecasting and planning, product variety management, warranty, product quality, and pricing analytics.
Act as analytical business consultants to a wide range of product generation groups and customer-facing organizations within HP (all regions, all hardware businesses).
Provide clarity of action in critical strategic decisions and develop data-driven decision support processes in supply chain, product variety management, pricing, and related areas.
Provide program management leadership for pan-HP supply chain initiatives: e.g. Product Design for Supply Chain, Supply Chain Network & Logistics Provider Consolidation, Product Quality.
Utilize project management, analytical expertise and communication skills to lead high-impact projects that improve the performance of HP businesses.
Lead teams in framing business challenges, structuring analytical approaches, gathering key data, evaluating alternative solutions, and presenting well-supported conclusions to management.
Provide quantitative and qualitative support for recommendations by leveraging team's advanced capabilities in data analysis, operations research, decision analysis and financial modeling.
Work with program managers and VPs to develop content for presentations to SVPs, and occasionally to the CEO and Executive Committee.
Required:
MBA/MS/PhD in a business analytics fields (i.e. Industrial Engineering, Management Science, Operations Research, Statistics)
Excellent analytic and problem solving skills, as developed through both training and applied experience in advanced analytics.
Consulting skill: 2+ years experience in a top-tier external consulting role. Internal consulting experience may be acceptable in some cases.
3+ years post-MS/PhD work experience in supply chain or other applicable discipline
Strong presentation writing skills
Demonstrated ability to influence decision-making and communicate ideas to cross-functional teams and all levels of management
Desired:
Content expertise: 2+ years operational or strategic development experience in one of the following: procurement, network & logistics, processes & IT, services & warranty, pricing, forecasting, product quality
