Job Description: The ABAP Developer is responsible for report development, data interfaces, analysis and design, and dialog programming in the SAP R/3 environment. They also provide support and maintenance, program modifications, performance tuning, problem solving, debugging, gathering and writing technical specifications. Design and develop SAP computer programs that automate specific business processes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: . Be responsible for participating in the development, maintenance, and enhancement of SAP applications while assigned to project teams within an assigned business unit or corporate department, tasks include: 1. ABAP/4 programming, 2. SAP R/3 environment, 3. enterprise data management system, 4. report development, 5. data interfaces, 6. analysis and design, 7. dialog programming, 8. provide support and maintenance, 9. program modifications, 10. performance tuning, 11. problem solving, 12. debugging, 13. technical specifications - gathering and writing. . Utilize a variety of client/server platforms . Under the leadership and tactical supervision of a project leader, incumbents collaborate with company customers, staff, IT, and other stakeholders to identify user requirements . Assess available technologies . Recommend solution options . establishing a detailed program specification through discussion with clients . clarifying precisely what actions the program is intended to perform . breaking down program specification into its simplest elements and translating this logic into ABAP/4 . devising possible solutions to predicted problems, evaluating other options . working as part of a team, which may be established purely for a particular project, to write a specific section of the program . combining all elements of the program design and testing it . testing sample data-sets to check that output from the program works as intended . reacting to problems and correcting the program as necessary . implement the program and coordinating final testing . evaluating the program's effectiveness . increasing program operating efficiency and adapting to new requirements, as necessary . conducting user acceptance testing to ensure the program can be used easily, quickly and accurately . recreating steps taken by the user to locate sources of problems . writing detailed documentation for the operation of the program by users and computer operators . consulting manuals, periodicals and technical reports to learn new ways to develop programs and maintain existing skills and knowledge.
In this position it will be required to learn ABAP, the language used to program in SAP, it will also be require to learn the different business process to have a clear idea of the information flow before coding, this means that the person should be willing to learn financials, accounting and Logistics as needed. The training phase will be provided by BAS Costa Rica center and a certification test will be applied at the end of the training phase and before the assignment with the customer.
Other responsibilities included in the role are: . Acting as the ultimate escalation point to the Service Management organization (1st and 2nd level support) when an incident is related to product development or ABAP expertise is needed . Being part of the Product Team (designing the solutions). Interfacing with customers from business and IT
· Responsible for delivery of assigned tasks within the delivery cycle of a project. Understands a broad spectrum of HP technology in order to deliver part of a detailed technical design, which meets customer requirements. Tasks may include installing new systems applications; updating applications, firmware, and drivers; creating boundaries for as well as performing configuration and testing activities; applications programming for assigned modules within a larger program; assisting in the preparation of technical presentations and demonstrations; and participating in customer meetings. · Works with minimal direction from the technical lead and with customer nominated representatives to accomplish assigned tasks. Contributes to design for specific deliverables and assists in the development of technical solutions. · Participates as part of a team and maintains good relationships with team members and customers. Understands HP strategy and the role that the individual plays. · Uses knowledge tools and reuses information for the benefit of projects, and of professional development. · Uses and contributes to technical forums within the HP environment and local professional communities and technical user groups. Focuses on single customer. Brings some specialized knowledge to a project team and solves moderately complex problems. Education and Experience Required:
- Bachelor degree or higher in Systems Engineering or a strong development background/experience 5 years of proven experience in the field - Must like to develop/code and learn about other fields (accounting, finance and logistics) - Strong initiative, problem solving, priority setting, good communications and collaboration - English (at least 90%) - Customer Service oriented.
A plus: - SAP or other ERP applications experience (big plus) - Combination of IT and financial backgrounds - Knowledge of accounting and financial principles - ITIL knowledge
