Position Description:
The Health and Compliance group at CGI Federal is looking for a Build/Systems Engineer who can be part of a large team in a dynamic and changing environment. Projects include a full lifecycle design, development, implementation maintenance for mission critical applications in the federal healthcare space. The Build Engineer is someone passionate about automation of build and deployment processes along with integration of external tools like continuous integration, unit testing frameworks and code checkers that improve overall software quality.
The projects utilize rapid design and development techniques and a SOA based on open source platform (JBoss) to respond to client demands for meeting the challenges of healthcare reform and open government directives. CGI Federal provides in-depth functional and technical expertise, offering clients a focused set of solutions that help federal health organizations to become more productive, cost-effective, secure and service-oriented.
Position Description: As a Build Engineer, You will be responsible for maintaining a software build and deployment platform that supports a large scale, agile development project with multiple parallel scrum teams. You will be involved with the planning and execution of all aspects of change management and version control, code and data propagation and deployment, and post-production validation for software releases. You will develop consistent, repeatable and automated process and controls to support efficient and stable build and deployment environments for multiple teams across 4 cloud-based environments. You will support internal development teams using our enterprise tools and standards (Subversion, Maven, Ant, NAnt, Jenkins/Hudson and Collabnet) to deliver software releases on primarily RHEL 6 based systems in a private cloud environment. You will be expected to continuously evaluate emerging best practices and tools to improve and evolve the build and deployment processes leading up to a nationwide rollout of the software.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
?Expert knowledge and experience with Subversion. Work with the development team to identify the branching and merging strategies to enable parallel development as well as support of software releases. Ability to integrate SVN with external CI tools like Jenkins as well as bug trackers using scripting, hooks or triggers. Ability to setup automated backups of SVN and perform disaster recovery.
?Expert knowledge and experience with Maven, Ant and other automated build tools. Ability to integrate Maven and ANT.
?Experience with configuration and deployment of Java container based applications. Expert understanding of core JEE deployment units like Wars, Ears, etc.
?Experience with deployment of Service eAssemblies and Composite Services in a ESB environment a huge plus. Experience with JBoss SOA platform and/or JBoss Enterprise Application Server also a huge plus.
?Ability to troubleshoot and resolve project dependency and class path type issues.
?Experience with continuous integration (CI) practices, principles and at least one CI tool
?Familiarity with audit controls as they related to the configuration management discipline
?Can do some level of debugging/troubleshooting of JEE code using Eclipse.
?Combined experience of 5+ years as a configuration management specialist or build engineer.
?Experience with Agile software development methodologies, ideally Scrum.
?Experience communicating visually and verbally with developers and managers.
?Extensive experience with multitiered web applications and batch applications.
?Understanding of key patterns and practices of enterprise application development
?Ability to work independently and/or as part of a team. Experience working with geographically distributed teams,.
?Strong time management, priority allocation and task management skills. Proven ability to handle multiple concurrent projects and tasks without sacrificing schedule or quality.
?Excellent verbal and written communication skills,
?Ability to interact professionally with a diverse group, executives, managers, and subject matter experts.
