Responsibilities: The core responsibility is to provide business decision support and strategic insight to advance the web analytics, merchant marketing, community, product and distributed commerce efforts at Shopping.com. The candidate will work closely with management to build and track programs to help grow customer satisfaction as well as the pool and profitability of merchants and partners across all global Shopping.com sites. The individual will gain exposure to many areas of the company including research and technology, product management and product development, finance, business development, marketing, pricing, account management, merchant sales, international, data warehousing, statistics and information technology. This role will serve as a key member of the Business Intelligence & Analytics team, responsible for integrating and analyzing data from multiple sources. In particular, this role will generate a point of view and participate in building a solution in the following areas: · Drive the analytical support to key initiatives and strategies. This requires strong analytical thinking, the ability to conduct quantitative analyses, a deep understanding of the Shopping.com websites, the capacity to develop and articulate conclusions based on analysis and research. Examples include the following: analysis of users’ behavior on Shopping.com’s US and international sites (feature adoption, click path analysis, browsing behavior analysis, etc.); monitoring the releases of front-end changes and community features; return on investment for product initiatives; traffic quality, click-fraud and bot traffic detection; etc. · Work with the Shopping.com organization, including the Business, Product and Engineering teams to understand reporting requirements and gather consensus. Document these requirements and define a plan for a comprehensive reporting system supporting clients’ needs with an emphasis on automation and simplification. Act as a business partner for the Data Warehouse team to implement the plan, resolve ambiguities and conflicting business/data architecture rules. Ensure business decisions are sound and data-driven. · Conduct regular and ad-hoc analyses for tactical daily operations. Gather, track and analyze key performance metrics for the Shopping.com websites. Develop and maintain reports, dashboards and scorecards that track key merchant, partner and business metrics. Function as a power user of our business intelligence reporting platform. Assist users in creation of their own reports. · Work with business units and product teams to develop presentations for senior management and critical external constituents.
Finally, this role will guarantee the quality of the statistical methodologies used across the company and train the teams when necessary to ensure a high level of analytical rigor. · Develop and enforce a standard for statistical approaches · Ensure business decisions are sound and data-driven. Job Requirements
Become an authority in the BI processes. Gain expertise in key business operational data and OLAP reporting.
· Proven capability to strategically problem-solve using advanced quantitative and analytical skills · Training in statistical methodology · Capacity to develop a clear understanding of the business needs and translate them into relevant data queries to inform direction and strategy · Technical experience with databases and data warehousing concept/tools · Solid knowledge extracting data from various large relational databases with Oracle SQL queries and OLAP cubes required. Experience with PL/SQL and building Oracle stored procedures is a plus. · Experience with an enterprise B.I. reporting platform, especially MicroStrategy, is highly desirable.
