Position Title: Senior Financial Services Business Analyst Job Category: Post Sales Location: Virtual _______________________________________________________________________________
Job Summary:
This individual will influence key business constituents and decision-makers regarding specific business value enabled by the integration of data and can clearly articulate its alignment with overall data management vision and direction. Consultant will help direct Data Management Program strategies, vision and solution roadmap, while influencing integrated data environment development and investment.
Key Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will:
· Work independently across Client organizational structures to solve seemingly disparate information needs within the context of an overall data management program. · Seamlessly translate business strategies, drivers and overall business objectives into specific enabling data needs supporting defined initiatives. · Provide guidance, thought leadership and strategic direction for the development of an integrated data environment, continually selling the concept and value of integrated data throughout all levels of the organization. · Identify where/when additional Teradata expertise (e.g. technical, application, etc.) is required to ensure client success. All consulting activities must be viewed within the context of end user adoption/acceptance and ultimate business value delivery of the Teradata environment.
Skills & Attributes :
Relationship Development Excellent interpersonal skills - develop relationships with key business constituents including "C" level executives, articulating/demonstrating how the data management program drives functional results aligned with broader client objectives. Ability to set business client at ease in order to extract relevant, accurate, and credible information as related to potential business opportunities (initiatives).
Sales & Marketing Ability to market / sell the concept of integrated data for multiple functional purposes - this will be critical to the ultimate adoption and acceptance of the integrated data environment.
Consulting Excellent facilitation skills - careful balancing of requirements within three main areas; (1) requirements representing current capabilities to be replicated in the integrated environment, (2) requirements representing insight currently gained only periodically due to systematic availability/difficulty, and (3) requirements representing new insight not systematically available or considered. Ability to enable interviewees to creatively consider potential process changes required to deliver business value.
Ability to identify new opportunities, which may be "shelved" for future consideration and analysis -because an opportunity may be shelved for future consideration, does not preclude the capture of an appropriate level of information/insight as a basis for future consideration in light of data leverage opportunities.
Documentation Capture interview notes and organize into logical topical groupings, e.g. opportunities, risks, data issues, data dependencies, process change requirements/dependencies, next steps, etc.; should be captured in a timely fashion to minimize lost context and reduces need for interview repetition and enables non-attendees to glean content and business context.
Financial Analysis Capture and develop via interview, research, analysis, and/or use of industry metrics the projected net financial impact resulting from the enablement of specific initiatives with the targeted integrated data environment. Financial techniques such as NPV, payback period, book-flow analysis, and/or cash-flow analysis may be employed as appropriate. Further, an understanding of data leverage (reuse) opportunities must be integrated into the financial analysis when applying cost to deliver (e.g. data acquisition, modeling and presentment) to each initiative - given data availability and/or data integration sequence scenarios.
Technical Competence Conversant in current data warehousing best practices with the ability to articulate the differences between federated and integrated data architectures as well as the differences between relational and a dimensional data modeling. This individual must exhibit the ability to articulate the linkages, functions, and progression across logical, physical, and semantic data models at a high-level.
Data Overlap Analysis Rationalize and reconcile business opportunities and data leverage points (synergies) across various business areas to ensure development of an integrated data environment that is fully accountable to definable business improvement/value delivery. Individual must be able to maintain the Data Overlap Analysis which would be a direct feed into Financial Analysis. Such analysis be done within the context of "strategic planning and analysis", not of traditional data analysis needs typically done in the Design phase that could typically stall the process.
Industry Knowledge Individual must demonstrate a degree of working functional industry knowledge, e.g. servicing, production (originations), secondary marketing, marketing, finance, credit risk, etc. in order to converse with key SMEs with a degree of competency and understanding (empathy) for potential interviewee disclosed opportunities/challenges which underpin potential opportunities. Basic Qualifications :
· Bachelors Degree, preferably in Business Administration and or Banking · Minimum 10 years experience working in the Financial Services Industry · 3 years of Teradata and Data Warehouse experience required · Must travel up to 90% within the US · Thorough understanding of the data environment is essential · Ability to communicate clearly as well as create & deliver customer presentations · Ability to translate customer needs into solutions · Ability to lead and work in high energy groups · Ability to be fully billable and produce client deliverables
Preferred Qualifications :
· Industry context of Teradata solutions developed internally or in conjunction with partners and/or system integrators · Experience in Data Management practices · Experience in Data Architecture and data modeling practices
