Description of Position:
The Business Systems Analyst (BSA) works with some supervision on moderate to complex projects or independently on projects of low to moderate complexity. The BSA serves as a liaison between the business community and Information Services (I.S.). The BSA contributes to the identification of a solution alternative, elicits and develops business and functional requirements that meet the needs of the business in a date driven business and application development environment.
Knowledge and Experience:
The BSA should have 1 to 4 years of business and/or information technology experience with demonstrated analytic and problem solving ability. The BSA must have good communication and negotiation skills and the ability to collaborate as part of a project team.
The BSA will provide ongoing support, development and testing/certification for Contract Logistics – Global Systems applications using both Agile and Structured development methodologies. Must be capable of creating user stories or written business requirements and functional designs under the guidance of a Lead Business Systems Analyst or Project Leader. Must be detail oriented and comfortable in a deadline-driven environment.
Responsibilities:
- Eliciting, analyzing and communicating business needs
- Identifying solutions to business problems
- Creating and managing detailed written business and functional requirements for moderate to complex projects
- Creating and maintaining a requirements traceability matrix
- Managing the requirements change control process
- Gaining project stakeholder acceptance of documented requirements and proposed solution
- Working with some guidance from a Lead Business Systems Analyst or Project Leader and adhering to established standards and practices
- Participating in peer and team reviews of requirements documentation to ensure quality
- Participating in reviews of developer, architect and quality assurance deliverables to ensure alignment with documented requirements
- Creating iRise visualizations
- Capturing, writing and communicating accurate meeting minutes
- Strong analytical, listening and questioning skills
- Ability to multi-task.
- Good presentation and Project management skills.
- Self motivated.
- Experienced with MS Project preferred
- Experience with iRise version 7+ or 8.7
- Interacting with a wide variety of project stakeholders including business users, applications developers and architects
- Under the guidance of a Lead Business Systems Analyst or Project Leader or with some independence on one or more projects of low to moderate complexity while adhering to established standards and procedures.
Education:
The desired Business Systems Analyst will possess a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business or related discipline or the equivalent in education and work experience. Successful completion of UPS BA101 and BA201 preferred.
