Our Cooper Bussmann facility currently has an excellent opening for an experienced: Business Unit Controller at our Vancouver, Canada location. Position Overview:
Responsible for planning, directing and maintaining all accounting, budgeting, and financial systems for the Wireless business unit. This position is responsible for contributing financial advice to the business decisions of the Wireless Leadership Team. Also, this position is responsible for ensuring that internal control policy and procedures are maintained as directed by Division requirements.
Key Accountabilities:
* Participate in the management of the business, monitoring, analyzing and interpreting financial and operational reports. Provide financial advice to management to identify and resolve business issues. * Participate in the review and valuation of acquisition candidates for the business. * Direct and control the global financial functions. Develop policies and procedures as required for these functions. * Provide timely estimates on foreign exchange related impact to operations, and develop strategies to counter long term trends in currency exchange rates. * Direct the timely and accurate preparation of monthly financial statements and variance analysis reports. Report and interpret results of operations to the GM and his staff. Make recommendations to correct unsatisfactory progress in achieving financial growth and reversing undesirable trends. * Monitor performance against company profit plans, both short-range and long-range. * Prepare quarterly forecast and the annual operating budget. * Prepare Capital Budget reports. * Aid in the preparation and justification of Authorization for Expenditure. Approve all AFE's prior to submission evaluation. Maintain an effective system to monitor AFE's in process and provide for post completion audits. * Develop and maintain a staff of qualified team members through consistent and timely implementation of employee relations policies and procedures concerning personnel, planning, training, development and compensation * Responsible for operational accounting including variance analysis, physical inventories, standard costing, and plant accounting * Work with Finance Staff to build out the Wireless finance organization, determine best split of duties between business unit and division.
Nature and Scope:
Reporting directly to the Vice President/General Manager, the incumbent is directly involved with fellow staff members in business decisions impacting short and long-term objectives of the business. There is also frequent involvement with Division management and staff, suppliers and customers. The Business Unit Controller is also responsible for the overall direction and control of all phases of the accounting function. The position is financial as well as operational. The position requires a strong background in accounting, especially areas of cost accounting, budgets and forecasts. Of equal importance is the ability to focus on key operational issues and identify their financial impact related to the following areas: EMS supplier costs and variances, labor and scrap reporting, factory and capital spending, inventory and production control, budgetary analysis, operating working capital and system operations. Demonstrated experience in dealing with the multiple currencies used for product sales as well as in daily operations. Additionally a good understanding of SAP and how ERP systems work is critical. Experience with other ERP systems, including Syteline, would be highly desirable. Lastly, this position requires in depth understanding of sales accounting, credits issuance, and margin analysis.
