Job Description Primarily performs maintenance, repair, and installation of all communications electronic systems assigned to FOL Curacao. Applies comprehensive technical knowledge to solve complex electronic problems. Serves as the senior communications-electronics technician and guides junior personnel in the performance of maintenance. Responsible for ensuring that maintenance is being performed IAW with PWS and Primarily performs maintenance, repair, and installation of all communications electronic systems assigned to FOL Curacao. Applies comprehensive technical knowledge to solve complex electronic problems. Serves as the senior communications-electronics technician and guides junior personnel in the performance of maintenance. Responsible for ensuring that maintenance is being performed IAW with PWS and appropriately documented in our automated maintenance reporting system. Establishes schedules for maintenance work and updates the C4I managers with maintenance statuses.

MAJOR JOB ACTIVITIES:

1. Provides Communications and Radio Systems support to permanent party, contractor, and deployed personnel at the FOL sites.

2. Operates, installs, configures, troubleshoot, remove, replace, inspect, and maintain Tactical Navigation System (TACAN), base telephone system, INMARSAT, HF-TADIL, Radio (HF/UHF/VHF), LMR, COMSEC, CCTV, intrusion detection system (IDS), satellite, TACSAT, and other assigned systems.

3. Maintain and load COMSEC key materials into encryption devices.

4. Applies technical knowledge of electronic principles to solve difficult problems using diagrams, schematics, engineering data and test equipment.

5. Diagnoses equipment malfunctions and effects repairs to restore equipment to required operating conditions.

6. Troubleshoot to the component level and makes needed repairs.

7. Maintains work center's test measurement and diagnostic equipment (TMDE) program.

8. Maintains and ensure completeness of technical order library.

9. Performs other duties and assignments as required.
Required Experience: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certifications: Two years related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.

Education: High School Diploma and college or technical school courses in Math and Basic Electronics or equivalent military training. Training in radio frequency is highly desirable.

Experience:

Background in general electronic with actual hands on experience. Good understand of TACAN and radio theory and test equipment used to maintain and repair those systems. Ability to troubleshoot to the component level. Comprehensive understanding of transistors and digital circuitry.


Skills:

Minimum of 6 years maintenance experience on one or more of the following systems:
-Navigational Systems (preferred AN/FRN-45 TACAN)
-HF/UHF/VHF radios (preferred AN/URC-200 Radio)
-SATCOM Systems (preferred AN/PRC-117F)
-Intrusion Detection System (preferred TASS/WSTI/WAVES/CCTV system)
-Land Mobile Radios (preferred Motorola XTS-3000, XTS-5000, MTH-800)
-Telephone Switch (preferred AVAYA Series)
-COMSEC (KY 99, KG-175, STE, STU III, KIV 7)
-HF-TADIL
-INMARSAT
Desired Skills: PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:
Required to climb stairs, ladders, towers and scaffolds
Must be able to lift/push/pull 50 lbs
Must occasionally be on-call support 24/7 operations

TRAINING:
On site familiarization training will be provided on installed equipment, which consists of URC-200 radios, AN/PRC-117F radios, AN/FRN-45 TACAN, AVAYA Definity Telephone System, TASS/WSTI/WAVES IDS system, ADTRAN Microwave system, LMRs (various models), etc.
