Communications Specialist (1 Year Contract)
Title: Communications Specialist (1 Year Contract) Location: Toronto Responsible for executing communications activities related to public/media relations in support of the firm's national branding program, as well as providing support for internal communications. This role requires exceptional writing and editing skills, media pitching experience, sound judgment and an eye for detail.
Major Responsibilities:
· Supports day-to-day activities related to SAS Canada's Public Relations/Media Relations plan in partnership with SAS' external agency. This includes including sourcing relevant editorial opportunities, writing press releases and timely news pitches and driving programs aimed at increasing SAS awareness and building a positive image of SAS in the marketplace through the media. · Creation of copy for marketing communication vehicles including external web, press releases, advertising, direct mail, email and marketing collateral such as signage, case studies and other materials as assigned. · Performs internal communications role in Canada by contributing written material regarding Canadian operations for global and country intranet sites, as well as providing support for executive communications. · Distributes relevant marketing information required to support sales' efforts. · Updates project plans to support specific marketing activities. · Contributes feedback on outcomes of activities and recommends changes accordingly to improve activity execution and marketing processes. · Create maintain relationships with global SAS counterparts to leverage and share best practices. · Responsible for upholding and enforcing brand standards in all marketing vehicles and programs and across the functional departments of the company. · Performs other related duties as assigned by manager.
· A post-secondary education in Communications, Public Relations, Advertising, Marketing, Journalism, English or related area of study is required. · Minimum 5 years experience preferable within a sales and marketing environment. · Excellent knowledge of general marketing principles · Understanding of overall sales processes (software industry experience an asset) · Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills · Writing and proofreading skills. · Diplomacy and tact required in internal and external relationships. · Ability to build positive working relationships with colleagues. · Must be willing to travel · User's knowledge of various software tools and applications, such as Microsoft Office.
