Position Available:  Computer Operator

Primary Responsibilities:

• Monitor, track, and execute batch processing. Analyze and manipulate schedules, manage critical path processing in a multi-system environment (Mainframe, UNIX, Linux and Window servers) through the production control application Control-M.


• Performs action on Mainframe system, tape management, tape mounts, print distribution. Takes corrective action for job failures, error alerts. Provides support to all mainframe programmers, by issuing JCL Edits, Job restarts, JES commands, CICS regions, and transactions.  Perform IPL of both production and development platforms.

• Records all job abends, system problems, as well as environmental problems within the HEAT application.


• Manages and maintains printers and tape drives in accordance with system console instructions.


• Ensures that backups, restores, distribution of media, and processing of production requests are made in a timely and efficient manner.


• Performs operator maintenance on devices and quality checks on computer output.


• Maintains and manages data backup for offsite storage for disaster recovery. Follows all strict governance security requirements when handling confidential data


• Participates in execution of the process associated with the Problem Management Policy and Crisis Communication Standards


• Strives to meet all Service Level Agreements.


• Identifies and suggests improvements to procedures and work environment to increase efficiency and accuracy of work performed.


• Encourages teamwork through cooperative interactions with co-workers.

• Provide timely escalation of complex problems to second level technical support and/or to the appropriate level of management.

• Ensures the physical securities of the Data Center’s governance guidelines are followed.  Monitors environmental conditions and places service calls to authorize service vendors.


• Provide first level support and troubleshooting of incident and problem solving and documenting in our HEAT problem tracking application. Follow through tracking incident from initial time of reporting to resolution.

Necessary Skills & Qualifications:

• Associate Degree (AA) or equivalent from 2-year college or technical school;


• Five to Ten years related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


• Knowledge of desktop clients, Windows OS, MVS (OS/390, z/OS) and UNIX software (AIX, SCO, LINUX).


• Control M, COBOL and JCL experience is required, only candidates with this experience will be considered.

Work schedule:  Hourly Position, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday from 6am to 6pm and this also includes every other Wednesday, same hours.
