Computer Operator
Seeking experienced Tape Operator position located in Westerville, OH. Operator will perform daily backups, print production, database management and data restores and will be responsible for media handling, software and procedure training and documentation for onsite engineers in local Westerville Data Center.
Additionally, Media Operator will be responsible for coordinating and facilitating transfer of data tapes and will aid backup team in development of backup monitoring processes and documentation.
Operator will:
Generate all scratch reports for daily work for the media/tape operators
Edit and update media/tape expirations dates when required
Analyze and replace if needed, any problem media/tapes
Prepare daily media link backup, creating data disks for media link
Pull scratch media/tapes as listed
Ensure production work is processed as outlined
Maintain the inventory of Active and Scratch tapes
Coordinate tape backup schedules for new and existing systems
Coordinate with end users on special requests
Monitoring of scratch tape availability
Maintain and comply with operational documentation on procedures and processes
Prepare tapes for mailing and shipping to outside vendors and/or users
Sign in/out media/tapes into the Media/Tape Operations area
Perform media/tape labeling
Perform tape initializations
Prepare media/tapes for offsite storage
Send and receive off-site storage containers
Maintain and update daily shift turnover logs
Assist client with Disaster Recovery tests
Participate in annual inventory process
Requirements:
Skills & Qualifications Required:
Experience in similar role with large emphasize on monitoring all active tape drives in large data center
Understanding and experience utilizing tape library tools to enable tape operator functions
Experience maintaining media management for multiple platforms
Experience and knowledge with MS-Word, MS-Excel, turnover tools, etc.
