Position Summary:
Avaya Government Solutions (AvayaGov) is one of the nation's strongest and most dynamic systems solutions providers. AvayaGov specializes in the acquisition, design, engineering, evaluation, and development of advanced IT systems and data communications networks for information systems and applications. Our long tradition of success is attributable to the bright, driven professionals at AvayaGov. Avaya Government Solutions has an opening for a Computer Technician II located in San Antonio, Texas. This position is part of the Technical Support Team on a large government contract, which provides direct, tier one client/customer support and trouble resolution for all IT services, computing platforms and wireless devices pertaining to task. The Computer Technician II will be responsible for: * Provide support for end users in person, over the phone and using remote desktop tools. * Respond to support requests made in person, by phone and email, then document the problem, the action taken and the resolution in a ticket management system. * Work within a tiered structure, assisting Contractors, while escalating complex issues to more senior team members of the team. * Install, configure and troubleshoot Windows XP clients in an Active Directory environment. * Support clients using network printers and scanners, Microsoft Office and proprietary and COTS client-server and web based applications * Support clients using wireless devices.
Requirements Education:High school diploma or equivalent Experience:0-5 yrs
Minimum Education/Experience: Minimum of high school or technical school diploma or certification. 3 years or more providing technical support relative to the installation, repair and other maintenance of computer equipment and LAN hardware. Be able to provide support of relational databases such as MS Access, Oracle, Project SQL*Server and Visual Basic. Interface with SysAdmin personnel on task and resolve issues between PCs and network devices/interfaces, and with networked databases using SQL*Net and Oracle ODBCs as required.
Qualifications: * Experience in providing technical support for a large government information technology contract. * Experience in working with relational databases, scientific and technical COTS products. * Experience in identifying and resolving PC hardware and software issues. * Experience in identifying and resolving LAN connectivity issues. * Experience using/supporting MS Office applications. * Experience maintaining and troubleshooting local and network printer issues. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills. * Ability to lift up to 45 lbs.
Security Clearance:Must have an Active DOD Secret Security Clearance or the ability to obtain one.
