OVERVIEW:
Over the past four years, Blue Castle has brought together 160 of the most talented minds in the industry, shipped three titles in the process (The BIGS, MLB Front Office Manager and The BIGS 2 all published by 2K Sports) and are currently working on Capcom’s Dead Rising 2 and an unannounced Action project.
We are looking for a hands-on Lead Quality Assurance (QA) Tester to oversee a team of testers. This opportunity would have you working on our new Action project.
As a senior QA professional, you have good working knowledge of compliance and call on your previous experience in a video game console QA environment to anticipate and solve problems. As a core member of the QA team and working closely with the development team, you perform daily smoke tests, online completion testing, deliverable verification, game play testing and design reviews. You are an active participant in defining QA staffing requirements and subsequent recruiting, hiring and team building activities.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Formulate, and implement testing policies, procedures and standards including the development and maintenance of test plans. * Perform testing to verify proper function, data content, performance, usability/playability/functionality/consistency and hardware/software compatibility. * Coordinate with engineering to develop, administer and monitor automated testing tools. * Ensure the quality of the game build process by performing build verification testing. * Defect tracking administration and reporting. * Monitor product quality, and ensuring issues are properly classified and communicated. * Coordinate with Project Managers to ensure builds are delivered and defects reported quickly and efficiently. * Participate in defining QA team staffing requirements and in the recruitment of that team * Lead and mentor QA testers
REQUIREMENTS:
* MUST HAVE - 5+ years 360/PS3 QA experience * Minimum 1 year of experience where you have lead a team of QA Testers on a 360/PS3 project through final. * Shipped at least two commercial console games * Excellent knowledge of testing video games, software testing processes, methodology and best practices * A good understanding of the software development life cycle * Contribute to and facilitate department-wide process improvements * Exceptional and proven organizational, time/task management and analytical skills. * Strong problem identification and solving ability * A proven track record of working both independently and as collectively as part of a team * Strong English written and verbal communication, implementation, and interpersonal skills * Must be able to learn, comprehend and apply new concepts, techniques and procedures quickly * Passionate about video games * Bachelor’s degree or college diploma is preferred but not mandatory * Scripting or programming experience an asset but not mandatory
