The Engineering Manager will be responsible for overseeing the satellite video receivers and supporting equipment deployed by DISH from concept to development to deployment.  In this role the Engineering Manager will perform as a subject matter expert on hardware and software functionality and operation, system architecture, and field performance.  The candidate will be expected to interact with engineering teams from DISH’s equipment vendors to gain an understanding of the function of current and planned equipment and provide performance feedback to those vendors.  They will also be expected to serve as a technical resource for other groups within DISH such as customer service and field technicians.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned. 

 

• Works with Program Manager for project development.

 

• Manages the evaluation of a variety of factors (e.g., reporting formats, cost limitations, security     restrictions, etc.) to determine product configuration.

 

• Designs and implements testing methodology, as well as prepares and maintains documentation.

 

• Coordinates activities for single focus groups.  

 

• Responsible for setting group goals and evaluating group performance against said goals. 

 

• Engages in the typical responsibilities of a manager requiring planning, evaluating, organizing, integrating, and controlling.

 

• Supervisory responsibility includes staffing, conducting performance appraisals, training and developing subordinates, promotions, salary increases, terminations, disciplinary actions, etc.

 

• Other duties as required.  This list is not meant to be a comprehensive inventory of all duties and responsibilities assigned to this position

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Manages subordinate professionals.  Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

 


Bachelor’s degree in a technical field, preferably electrical engineering, systems engineering, or computer science.  MBA degree preferred.

 

8+ years of experience in engineering or technical program management.
