750BR Posting Title Data modeler Position Profile This role is responsible for the creation of, or extension to, logical and physical data models, whether based on custom development or a packaged solution. This includes the creation of metadata and the validation of data quality. This role may apply in either a Development environment or a Core Support environment, depending on assignment.
Responsibilities: -Translate the conceptual data model into a logical data model, including all the relevant business and archiving rules, to effectively support the functional specifications/designs -Convert the logical data model into a de-normalized, physical data model that addresses database performance, data management and technical issues -Assess and optimize the degree of reusability and standardization of existing data objects and tables -Create and manage metadata -Guide the DBAs through the proposed physical database design. Address any potential database issues with them -Validate data quality once the data is loaded and/or generated. Validate that the physical database is aligned to the physical model -For support issues or enhancements, determine appropriate resolution/solution through root-cause analysis and impact analysis -Provide work estimates -Maintain the currency of the data modeling documentation and documentation access tools -Apply, and ensure compliance with, all appropriate CN IT standards (eg. Security, Architecture, Project Delivery Methodology, SOX, etc.)

Skill Set:
University degree in computer science, information technology, or equivalent 10+ years of experience in data modeling 5+ years of experience in modeling of a dimensional data warehouse Kimball University training is an asset
