Position Summary:

This position would be focused on developing and supporting the Enterprise Data Warehouse and the reporting solutions across our clinical health care environment. This position will be responsible for the development of functional specifications to fulfill the data requirements for delivering comprehensive business intelligence solutions, data mart design, reporting and analytics. Strong data modeling, SQL skills and knowledge of 3rd party reporting tools is required. The incumbent provides system administrative support for data extract processes and reporting tools, including front line support for user community.

Essential Functions:

- Analyzes user data to determine business rules and creates data models.
- Participates in all phases of data warehouse implementation. Identifies pertinent issues and prepares comprehensive design specifications for database design, testing, conversion, and implementation.
- Translates and documents the results of requirements gathering into a standard format to be used to create the appropriate Business Intelligence (BI) solution.
- Applies industry standards to the technical architecture of a Business Intelligence solution (Stars, Cubes, Extract Transform and Load (ETL)) to solve business problems or increase business efficiently.
- Implements and supports Cognos and other reporting applications.
- Identifies and recommends methods to normalize and maintain data from disparate systems. Works with other internal ITS teams to understand the source systems used for the warehouse
- Troubleshoots data warehouse software. Develops and maintains tools to optimize data quality and access.
- Works with end user to gather reporting requirements
- Collaborates with users and negotiates to identify and develop add data sources for the data warehouse consistent with business rules and customer needs.
- Coordinates with Data Warehouse Architects to create and support Business Intelligence environment. Identifies and works with appropriate staff to resolve technical issues.
- Develops strategies and updates the data warehouse in response to changes reporting requirements.
- Conducts and attends team meetings, and communicates (verbally and in writing) team and project issues to appropriate staff and customers. Presents findings, recommendations, and specifications both verbally and in writing.
- Participates as a team member on data warehouse projects.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

- Strong background in data modeling techniques and methodologies.
- Knowledge of relational database and query concepts.
- Ability to analyze and develop business requirements and translate them into a data warehouse dimensional model.
- Ability to multi-task and meet negotiated timelines.
- Skill in explaining data warehouse operations to technical and non-technical users.

Qualifications:
Required:

- Two to Four years of experience in the field
- Bachelor degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent.
- Broad knowledge of data warehousing design, the business intelligence reporting life cycle and standard query tools.

Preferred:

- Graduate Degree in Medical Informatics or Computer Science or related field.
