Position Summary:
This position provides technical strategy, solutions architecture and systems administration for database management systems across the organization.
Essential Functions:
- Works with application team to design SQL Server database objects that meets business requirements and production standards. - Ensures the performance of the databases and application code from development to production. - Installs and migrates object changes through multiple test environments and production. - Works on complex projects. - Develops and implements database recovery plans and procedures. - Designs, installs, monitors, maintains, and executes performance tuning on production databases while ensuring high levels of data availability. - Works in multiple projects simultaneously which spans multiple applications releases. - Maintains environments through patching. - Analyze database metrics and assist with capacity planning.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:
- Moderate to complex programming and coding to automate and/or support the database environment. - Demonstrated ability to administer and support SQL Server installations (2000, 2005, and 2008) in 32 and 64 bit environments. - Demonstrated ability to install and maintain SQL Server on clustered and mirrored servers. - Excellent planning, conceptual, consulting and analytical ability - Strong judgment and management skills. - Solid verbal and written communication skills. - Experience troubleshooting SQL Server system level issues, such as crashes due to device failures, corruption, lock handling, recovery, etc.

- Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or other related discipline or equivalency. - Two years of applicable experience.
Preferred:
- DBMS (IMS, DB2, Oracle, SQL Server, and Teradata)
