Database Administrator
The Database Administrator is responsible for database management, data integration, SQL reporting systems and report delivery, and USO business intelligence systems.
Primary Responsibilities / Duties
Database Management: Maintain, enhance and optimize USO’s data; create a database schema to best serve functional departments and outside vendors; author new tables, stored procedures, functions, indexes, and/or views; provide best practices guidance on SQL server setup, rollout, and maintenance
Data Integration: Create, maintain, and administer integration services components extract data in an automated fashion; handle all data extract requests by project and functional teams; manages all data imports into USO database systems; use SQL Server Integration Services to successfully transform data from point to point as required.
Reporting: Develop, customize, and deploy all SQL reporting systems as required by USO project teams; use Microsoft SQL Reporting Services, creates and maintains reporting environment, administers security, and ensures compliance with USO information security policies and procedures; and build dashboard systems and KPI based reporting metrics.
Business Intelligence: Manage and maintain USO Business Intelligence systems using Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services; build new cubes, data marts, perspectives, dimensions, and hierarchies; transform USO database systems into complex analytical tools as required by USO project teams.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree, required. Computer Science, Math or related field a plus.
Must have a minimum of 3 or more years of work experience.
SQL Server 2005/2008 relational databases experience required. Certification a plus. Microsoft Office suite experience, required.
Microsoft Windows environment experience, required.
Experience working in a hosted environment, required.
Experience with .Net platform (C#, , ) a plus.
Must have strong problem solving capability.
Must have ability to think on the fly, commit to best practices, and rapidly provide solutions.
Must be highly effective when working on teams and able to escalate issues for quick solution when necessary.
Must be a strong advocate of the USO’s mission of supporting active military personnel and their families.
This position is located in Arlington, VA. Preference will be given to local candidates within commuting distance to the location. Relocation assistance is not provided for this position.
