The Senior DBA will be involved in application development projects to put in place sound database architecture and design, and will be responsible for production databases in support of IT applications.
Description: * Provides expertise supporting work on database systems with advanced technical complexity of 10g RAC architecture. * Provides support for High availability and disaster recovery of for critical database systems. * Implements standards relative to all aspects of Oracle database management * Provides solutions mapped to business/user and application development needs * Develops technical and organizational specifications for systems * Manages large, complex projects that are longer-term in nature or projects that have been identified as a critical priority for the user community * Sets quality standards relative to all aspects of database management * Support Development and Production database activities * Contributes to the quick resolution of database performance issues and root cause analysis. * Backfill for team members as needed on other projects or production issues * Support Development and Production database activities * Contribute to the resolution of database performance issues * Serves as consultant to the business on database programs and long-term systems strategies * Ability to work with off-shore technical database resources in the implementation and management of Oracle Database technologies
This position requires expert knowledge of relational database principles and practices. The successful candidate must have:
At least 4-6 years experience as an Oracle DBA with experience in Oracle 9i and 10g · Production support experience is required · At least 4-6 years of professional experience of full-life cycle ORACLE DBA experience · Expertise in Oracle performance tuning Very Large Databases (VLDBs) · Expertise with GRID controls to manage, monitor and administer oracle databases · Experience in Capacity planning, storage management, db trending and estimations. · Experience with 10G RAC, ASM, Data guard, RMAN and GRID · Experience in large multi-terabyte instances including partition management · Experience with OLAP and OLTP database modeling · Linux OS and scripting experience · Experience automating DBA task such as change management and database mentoring · Deep experience in architecting, and managing large enterprise Oracle database environments · Proficiency in Optimizing Databases/database servers, Backup/Recovery (point-in-time recovery), Security architecture, Oracle Standby, Database clusters, I/O sub-system tuning for best performance (data file layout, RAID configuration etc.), various trace flag settings and performance-tuning of database SQL code (procedures/packages etc.) · Knowledge of storage subsystems (Dell/EMC), NT and/or Unix scripting are a plus · Programming experience in a multi-tier environment · The ability to effectively use design and productivity tools in building applications and database components · Understanding of PL/SQL
