This team supports databases for critical systems. Team members are responsible for databases that support key Dell applications 24X7.
This person will play a key role in insuring the SQL Server environment is architected to meet business and IT demands for availability, performance and manageability.
The Senior DBA will be involved in application development projects to put in place sound database architecture and design, and will be responsible for production databases in support of IT applications.
Description: * Provides expertise supporting work on database systems with advanced technical complexity of SQL Server * Provides support for High availability and disaster recovery of for critical database systems. * Implements standards relative to all aspects of SQL Server database management * Provides solutions mapped to business/user and application development needs * Develops technical and organizational specifications for systems * Manages large, complex projects that are longer-term in nature or projects that have been identified as a critical priority for the user community * Sets quality standards relative to all aspects of database management * Support Development and Production database activities * Contributes to the quick resolution of database performance issues and root cause analysis. * Backfill for team members as needed on other projects or production issues * Support Production database activities * Contribute to the resolution of database performance issues
This position requires expert knowledge of relational database principles and practices. The successful candidate must have:
At least 2-4 years experience as an SQL Server DBA with experience in SQL Server 2005 and SQL Server 2008 · Production support experience is required · At least 2-4 years of professional experience of full-life cycle DBA experience · Expertise in Oracle performance tuning Very Large Databases (VLDBs) · Experience in Capacity planning, storage management, db trending and estimations. · Experience automating DBA task such as change management and database mentoring · Programming experience in a multi-tier environment · The ability to effectively use design and productivity tools in building applications and database components · Understanding of Transact SQL
· Strong Team work and interpersonal skills · Excellent interpersonal skills are required · English fluent
