Dell/KACE Software Engineer Senior Consultant
Title: Dell/KACE Software Engineer Senior Consultant Location: Remote/Field/Satellite Office KACE, the manufacturer of the popular KBOX systems management appliances, was acquired by Dell earlier this year. The rapidly growing product line is now known as Dell KACE and is being sold primarily by the SMB and Public business units within Dell.
Looking for senior software developer with experience programming PHP in UNIX environments. Experience writing web applications, shell scripts, and using open source libraries encouraged. Must be able to work in a fast moving environment without lots of formal specifications. We prefer action over words.
Responsibilities: - Development of software to create new KACE appliances - Design, development, testing, documenting of new products and features - Implement technical specifications - Document and help test problem scenarios and solutions - Help technical support with escalated customer-related issues - Provide and implement suggestions for future improvement and roadmaps
Minimum Requirements: - 5 years of PHP development experience - Knowledge of web application frameworks and toolsets - Experience with relation databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL - Experience with software development concepts related to object oriented programming, creating abstractions, code reuse and refactoring - Working knowledge of high level software facilities/utilities: source control, bug tracking, virtual machine environments
Desired: - Experience with UNIX system administration, specifically FreeBSD and/or Linux - Experience with jquery, prototype, scriptaculous frameworks - History of contributing to and using open source projects - Successful history of working with distributed/remote team members
