Title: Desktop Support Engineer (#9759-28-MH1423) Skills: Desktop Support Date: 8-23-2010 Description: Thompson Technologies is seeking a Desktop Suppor Engineer for a permanent position in the perimeter are of Atlanta, GA. We are looking for a dynamic individual interested in joining a customer focused IT team. The Service Desk Technician is responsible for supporting both internal and external customers, incident management and reporting, adherence to SLAs, interfacing with users and management across all levels, setting outstanding customer service expectations, timely communication, root-cause analysis, and frequent statistical performance monitoring and reporting. This individual must be an excellent communicator, leader, decision-maker, coordinator of critical issues and driver of solutions who excels in a fast-paced environment and provides unparalleled support to the business units. Core Responsibilities Installs and supports desktop PC's, laptops, printers, etc. (Dell, HP) Identifies, diagnoses, and resolves problems for 480+ users across 3 locations; communicates solutions to end-users. Builds, images, delivers, tags, installs, and assists in the configuration of end-user PC desktop hardware, printers, software and peripherals. Install and troubleshoot all end-user Microsoft Operating Systems and suite of applications. (Windows XP, 7, Office 2003/2007); support in-house written applications. Liaison with vendor support for hardware and software as needed. Support/troubleshoot Cisco VPN and Broadband wireless and air-card connections Blackberry/iPhone mobile support. Other Responsibilities could include: Responsible for providing technology support for help desk calls. Enter calls into tracking system, prioritize calls, evaluate calls, resolve calls and escalate calls as required, follow-up with customers. Management, prioritization and dispatch of incoming Service Desk tickets with minimal supervision. Daily inspection and monitoring of the onsite data center and collocation data center for potential Service Disruptions. Qualifications and Experience Minimum of 2-3 years of experience working in a Help Desk/Service Desk environment. Strong written and verbal communication skills and effective interpersonal skills. Ability to write clear instructions and document processes. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Systems, or relevant IT experience is preferred. Certifications (preferred but not required) : ITIL, MCP or A+ ITIL experience is strongly preferred.
