POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking a Desktop Support Specialist for our Redwood City, CA office. The successful candidate is responsible for providing all essential IT support services to the Chicago R&D office as well as other US satellite offices. As a member of the IT support team, the successful candidate works closely with the local users and interface with the IT teams in HQ to provide IT services to the Redwood City and surrounding offices.
Responsibilities: * Provide day to day IT support to local office (PC setup/repair, systems configuration and deployment, tape backup and file/print/fax/email support) * Maintenance of user accounts * Software and hardware procurement and processing * Provide IT support to other RIM sites upon request * Occasional travel and after-hour support on-call rotation is required.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS * Diploma in Computer Systems or related technical discipline. * Two years hardware and software experience in troubleshooting PC, laptop and peripherals * Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively (oral and written) * Proven track record of resolving difficult issues * Knowledge and hands-on experience with Windows 9x, NT, 2000 and XP * Worked in a MS Exchange/Outlook environment * Must be able to be productive while working alone or in a team environment * Must have excellent problem solving skills and be process oriented * Good interpersonal and customer service skills and ability to work/learn as part of a team required. ADDITIONAL ASSETS * Experience with Remedy and Norton Ghost software * Knowledge and familiar with BlackBerry Enterprise Server and devices * Comprehension and experience with Linux Operating Systems
