Apply for this job: Your application choices are: * Apply for this jobonline * Send your resume as an attachment viaemail * Refer a friend to this job More information about this job: Overview: The ITES Team has a need for a part-time (0.5 FTE) PC Support Technician for the ITES contract in Sugarland, Texas to provide hands-on support for 6-10 local users and visiting staff. The site includes server, network, and security systems that are managed remotely from teams at the other NETL sites; however, occasionally, hands-on assists for those systems, with help from the remote staff may be needed.
Responsibilities: General responsibilities include ensuring the availability of servers, workstations, network devices, etc. through preventive and remedial maintenance and operation in support of end users. PC Support Technician .Primary duties will be focused on support for the Sugarland, Texas site and include inventory control, PC support, and user support. .System administration on standardized Windows XP workstations. .Perform installation, maintenance, and support of system software and hardware. .Workstation maintenance to include the application of upgrades and patches for the OS, applications, and anti-virus software, and administration of local accounts and privileges. .Perform basic server and network device maintenance with assistance from remote Server and Network Administrators. .Assist the ITES Cyber Security team to support the security infrastructure and maintain local security controls consistent with government cyber security requirements .Provide required reports to the local government functional lead and to the ITES team leads to support weekly, monthly, annual, and metric evaluation requirements.
Qualifications: -Successful candidate skill base should include above average oral and written communication skills, including grammar and sentence structure; above average interpersonal skills; intermediate MS Office knowledge for creation and formatting of documents, charts, and deliverables; ability to adapt to unfamiliar systems and situation with minimal review/supervision; flexibility to adapting to deadlines, changing schedules, priorities, and unpredictable events; and ability to multi-task and prioritize work as directed. -Candidate should possess technical field in support of desktop, laptops, and office systems. -Minimum two (2) years customer service in one functional area is preferred. -US Citizenship is required -Due to the nature of the work's location onsite at the U.S. Department of Energy, applicant selected will be subject to Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements.
