Business Card Title / Posting Title Director, IT Architecture & Planning Job Summary Job Summary The Director of Engineering IT architecture and planning, within the product operations group, will build a team responsible for defining the IT architecture supporting global hardware and software product development. This includes driving implementation plans, identifying and prioritizing development team requirements and optimizing overall infrastructure costs. The IT architecture team will define and implement the foundation for transformation from business unit-dedicated engineering and test labs to a shared engineering and test infrastructure leading to lower costs and accelerated product development through parallel release development. SVL or RTP location acceptable Essential Functions - Develop processes for defining, prioritizing and implementing an IT infrastructure for engineering test and development. - Develop a planning process for engineering IT infrastructure projects that accommodates global engineering requirements, business needs and annual budget constraints. - Develop a regular review and reporting process for engineering IT projects with appropriate visibility across stakeholder organizations. - Maintain understanding of the engineering product development roadmap to anticipate IT infrastructure needs to support product development over a 2-3 year planning horizon. - Manage an annual project and capital budget planning process in close coordination with engineering stakeholders. - Establish key performance indicators and metrics that assess the effectiveness of the IT infrastructure in meeting stakeholder business requirements. Essential Functions: - Design, develop and implement operating policies that ensure the operation's effective achievement of objectives. - Develop and approve exceptions to policy tied directly to area of responsibility. - Work collaboratively with other senior managers to establish strategic plans and objectives. - Participate in corporate development of methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for projects, programs and people within your area of responsibility. - Develop budgets for approval and assure adherence once budget is approved. - Utilize previously aquired technical, project management, and people management experience to actively lead strategic regional and global projects. - Control of planning, staffing, budgeting, and managing expenses. Job Requirements Requirements: - Minimum of 5 years leading engineering IT architecture and planning functions preferably in a technology development company. - Experience planning for a multi-site, multi-internal customer engineering IT organization. - Demonstrated track record of leading change and transformation. - Strong communications and staff development skills. - A transparent and collaborate working style. Education and Experience - A minimum of 7 to 10 years of experience as a people manager is required. - A Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or Computer Science is required; or equivalent; a Graduate Degree is preferred. - Demonstrated ability to manage multiple, critical projects is required.
