Director of Network Operations (Sports Media/PR/Broadcasting)

Reporting to the Vice President of Programming and Production, the Director of Network Operations will lead and manage the network's broadcast operations including studio, master control, production and remote operations, and media assets. Responsibilities include leading and overseeing the development of: an operations management team and staff, a communicative and collaborative culture, high quality and efficient technical operations, and safety programs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 Direct, manage and develop/mentor the operations management group to ensure their managerial and operational skills support and facilitate an open, collaborative and high performance environment; lead the operations management group in successfully managing and developing their staff to meet current and future business needs.
 Play key leadership role in the design and further integration of remote, studio, operation and production facilities
 Direct and manage production facility and other satellite studios with a focus on efficient and effective use
 Develop and manage capital budgets and justifications.
 Partner closely with Finance to develop budgets, track costs, provide pre-estimates and post-estimates for all network productions
 Partner closely with Engineering, the production leadership team, and sales to assure overall quality, efficiency and profitability of the network
 Lead and further develop safety program, policies and procedures to ensure network operations studio and remote facilities' safety needs are met, and proper safety protocols are followed by all applicable personnel and vendors. Partner with Human Resources, Engineering, Remote Productions and external venues to ensure a successful and effective safety program is in place.
 Manage and develop our operations scheduling coordinator including the development and integration of this new role within the organization
 Serve as key contact with outside vendors to assure our strategic and financial goals are achieved while maintaining positive relationships. Ensure efficient and effective technical and production operations activities through continuous process improvement.
 Successfully engage in and complete other related responsibilities and projects as necessary

EDUCATION:

B.S. or B.A. degree; advanced degree desirable


QUALIFICATIONS:

 10+ years experience of television operations management to include most of the following - studio and production operations, master control, editing, live sports production and media asset management
 10+ years of managerial experience to include performance and career management, and employee relations
 Proven ability to build strong partnerships across the organization, lead and manage groups through change and growth, and develop and manage a diverse workforce
 Successful track record of managing up and across, and developing a strong business case for proposed changes; a business savvy professional
 Solid ability to balance production needs with operational capabilities, and to provide solutions that address and balance both wherever applicable.
 Solid experience with process improvement, and identifying and leading operational changes for a TV network's broadcast operations and production facilities
 Strong working knowledge of broadcast operations and program schedules
 Must be detail-oriented and have excellent problem solving skills
 Must have a track record of success working in a fast-paced, loosely structured environment which requires a hands-on work ethic
 Successful with developing and managing budgets
 Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and interpersonal skills
 Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook and Powerpoint is necessary
 Strong administrative, organizational and analytical skills
 Experience in television programming
 Strong negotiations skills
