PURPOSE OF POSITION: Develop and implement strategic quality plans to lead and direct quality operations across multiple sites. Directs and performs quality assurance activities necessary to ensure product and process compliance with regulations, specifications, contract requirements and ISO standards. The position will ensure a robust Quality Management System (QMS) that is customer focused and recognized as Best in Class and supports the objectives of Meggitt. In addition, this position will plan, organize and control the entire quality assurance program for the SBU and contribute to all aspects of the business as a member of the SBU Management Team. By developing, implementing and maintaining technical quality assurance and control systems and activities and defining the standards, methods, and procedures for inspecting and testing, this position will ensure the quality and reliability of company products. II. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: * Developing quality assurance program plans, inspection plans and techniques * Developing and implementing a robust corrective and preventative action process todeploy across the multiple businesses * Plans and processes to collect variable data * Responsible to managing Supplier Quality, work collaboratively with the VP, Operationsand (as appropriate) Group to identify and deploy supplier quality opportunities for theSBU, including Supplier QBRs and audits * Focusing the organization on continuous improvement and utilize Meggitt BusinessSystem (MBS) tools and techniques to identify, develop, and implement strategy,policy, processes, tools, metrics, action plans, bowlers, and countermeasures asrequired to achieve quality performance objectives * Training employees in the use of Quality and Continuous Improvement tools and processes (PPAP, DOE, DFMEA, PFMEA, Fishbone Diagrams, SPC, etc.) * Acting as the customers advocate to coordinate with customers on Quality issues,projects and requirements * Ensuring ongoing approval and health of the quality system and continued regulatoryand industry standard approvals (ISO/AS9100, Repair Stations, Manufacturing Approvals NADCAP, customer approvals, etc.) * Support LCR and TOW programs and the qualification and on-going assessment of theseinitiatives * Managing internal and external audits * Providing a robust tool control, calibration and gauge R&R process * Approving, controlling and improving suppliers and their performance The Quality Director will participate in design reviews and CCBs, and lead quality system audits to demonstrate compliance with Meggitt quality plan, customer contractual, regulatory and industry standard requirements. The Director will coordinate with other functional organizations within Meggitt and all regulatory agencies to include the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) Production Approvals and Repair Station Activities. This person will be the FAA's MIDO, FSDO and Europe's EASA point of contact for the Company FAA Repair Station; responsible for the creation, modification and enforcement of FAA approved quality procedures, Where new product development is developed or tested, it is preferred that the Quality Director be a manufacturing and airworthiness DAR to conduct delegated conformities. If the Quality Director is not a DAR, they have the knowledge and experience to direct outside consultants and must have the desire to one-day hold FAA designee status. III. RELATIONSHIPS: * Position reports directly to the Vice President, Operations * Liaise with Site Quality and Operations functions to ensure the strategic focus of the SBU is aligned and operational plans are in-line with performance expectations * External Relationships exist with customers, vendor, suppliers, and other Meggitt SBU's and Sites IV. BACKGROUND AND SKILL: * BS/BA degree in a technical discipline or equivalent. * Strong leadership skills with a minimum of 10 years management experience in a quality assurance and experience with implementation of quality and continuous improvement processes. * Must have excellent working knowledge in military and aerospace standards * A strong working knowledge of the applicable FARs and FAA Orders is a must. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills * Must be able to work independently as well as with a team VI.
