AREVA Federal Services LLC, a subsidiary of AREVA, is seeking an EH&S Specialist 2-Night Shift.
This position reports to the MOX ES&H manager and supports the implementation of construction safety and health programs. The EHS Specialist is knowledgeable of Construction Occupational safety and Health standards, and applicable construction safety work practices. The four primary functions of the EHS Specialist are: anticipate, identify and evaluate hazardous conditions and practices; develop hazard control methods; implement, administer and advise others on hazard controls and hazard control program requirements; and measure, audit and evaluate the effectiveness of hazard controls and hazard control programs.
Specific responsibilities include: . Provide oversight of Subcontractor work activities to ensure compliance with Shaw AREVA MOX Services environmental, safety, and health policies and programs. . Participate, with subcontractor S&H designees, in weekly construction site safety inspections; . Perform atmospheric sampling of work envirionments to identify potential exposure to airborne contaminates . Provide subject matter expertise on a variety of industrial safety and health topics. . Evaluate work environments to identify potential hazards and to define controls for ensuring the safe performance of work. . Provide industrial hygiene support for a variety of industial health issues related to MOX construction, including confined space entry;noise, airborne contaminants . Conduct investigations of industrial safety and environmental incidents, prepare reports, ensure appropriate notifications of incidents to MOX management. . Conduct management assessments of Shaw AREVA MOX Services and subcontractor industrial safety and heatlh programs.
The major challenge is overseeing the various subcontractor safety programs, balancing multiple job responsibilities, and adaptable and flexible to changing work priorities. Typical work environment is a construction site with exposure to a variety of construction hazards; outside work during all seasons; occasional overtime, weekend, and callout work.

Shaw AREVA MOX Services, LLC is a consortium of companies based in Aiken, SC and formed to advance the Department of Energy's mission to dispose of surplus weapon grade plutonium. The plutonium is disposed of by mixing it with uranium and forming a mixed oxide (MOX) fuel for use in existing nuclear reactors. After the MOX fuel is irradiated in the reactor, the plutonium can no longer be used for nuclear weapons. AREVA Federal Services provides resources to MOX Services for the design, construction, licensing and operations of the MOX Fuel Fabrication Facility (MFFF) to be built at the Savannah River Site. Resources provided are in the following disciplines: Licensing, ES&H, Integrated Safety Analysis, QA, Engineering Assurance, Process Engineering, Systems Engineering, Design and Engineering (Structural, Electrical, I &C, Seismic, Nuclear Criticality, Piping, Mechanical, HVAC), Project Safety, Procurement, Project Controls, Software Design, Training, Records Management, Operations, and Information Technology.

Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DOE security clearance. *
Night Shift position. *
Must have a high school diploma. * A successful candidate shall have a minimum of 2-7 years experience in construction site safety. * Will be trained in at least one of the following OSHA10, OSHA30, OSHA500. OSHA501 and or Site Safety Officer (SSO). * The candidiate will have some knowledge of environmental, health and safety regulatory compliance requirements, auditing principles, and proficient computer skills. * Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management, staff and help to implementing the following programs during construction: industrial safety, industrial hygiene, fire protection, emergency management, chemical safety management, spill control and countermeasures, construction safety, environmental protection, accident/injury prevention and investigation, ergonomics, safety assessments/appraisals, hazard recognition, and waste disposal.
