• Demonstrated knowledge in one or more of the following platforms and/or technologies:
• Voice cells infrastructure including: Lucent, Motorola, Nortel, CDMA data
• Telecom experience including: T1, DACS, OMP
• Digital Communications including: DS1, DS3, Fiber, ISDN
• Wireless data service including: LTE, CDMA, CSD, STP, RF Fingerprinting
• Analog, CDMA, Flexent Modular cells (CDMA & PCS), RMT software, and 3G technology
• InBuilding Repeater and DAS systems
• Proficient in office computer applications: Excel and PowerPoint
• Excellent analytic, interpersonal, and communication skills

• Driver's license requiredOn the Technical side the RF Engineer contributes to the RF Design of the regional cellular network including: search area issuance, candidate assessment, and approvals within sector area of responsibility; redesigning of mature network areas to minimize capacity constraints; working with other areas of network to ensure performance fixes/initiatives are in place; partnering with System Performance to reduce Lost Calls and Ineffective Attempts by x% in assigned sector (% dependent upon area / responsibility / issues at hand); preparing timely FCC/FAA and FAS submissions; conducting cell site translations with 99% accuracy; conducting data analysis of switch statistics and drive data by conducting drive testing for potential sites, new site integration, and system optimization; performing radio engineering evaluation for system planning and site acquisition; creating and using RF propagation and planning tools; conducting and overseeing field tests for potential sites; planning frequency assignments and identifying technical parameters for network growth; documenting and reporting findings; planning near-term integration of new technologies for first applications in the network; identifying location-specific needs for new cells using appropriate methods to rank objectively; evaluating coverage problems and new service area requirements for coverage cells; using propagation modeling software to develop frequency plans; identifying causes of RF interference and troubleshooting interference problems with system performance; attending zoning hearings in support of new cell site acquisitions; contributing in the development of long-term build plans; performing Macro/Micro Cell Design including antenna selection and placement; utilizing knowledge of CDMA, EVDO, LTE and microwave to contribute in network design; and assisting in the training and development of new RF and Associate RF Engineers. The RF Engineer should also lead and resolve all Baseline related issues.
On the leadership side, it is critical for RF Engineer to lead the entire region in executing the various RF projects. Each one is its own project. He or she must work with other Engineers on the RF Design and Performance teams as well as the regional Engineering and Operations teams so that each project is completed before our network and customers are negatively impacted. The RF Engineer must also manage the relationships with our vendors in order to ensure that we are getting proper support and attention as far as technology evolution and equipment delivery. The RF Engineer has to manage the projects and resources appropriately so that all of the RF engineering deliverables are successfully met. The RF Engineer must also take a leadership role in improving processes and tools to ensure efficiencies between different engineering teams. The RF Engineer will lead by example and have strong mentoring skills in order to train and guide junior members of the System Performance Department.
