General Dynamics Information Technology is seeking a System Administrator to provide tier 2 and tier 3 Systems Administration Support. This candidate will be a member of team that provides operational support for all the software and hardware components of the ITA's environment. The Systems Administrator will assess and identify appropriate solutions to be integrated into the system's operation and make recommendations for implementation. This candidate should have the ability to maintain quality customer service skills, a strong work ethic, and is a team player with the ability to work well independently. Duties * Perform on-site and remote tier 2 and tier 3 end user technical support. * Assists in the planning, design, documentation, and implementation of various systems to include servers, network equipment, and software applications. * Monitors, plans, and coordinates the distribution of client/server software and service packs. * Provide operational support of servers and datacenter equipment * Support Exchange, Lotus Notes and Active Directory servers * RSA administration * VMWare administration * Completes ongoing analysis of server health, performance and planning for growth * Makes recommendations for new equipment and services to purchase and works with various vendors for procurement. * Assist in the organization and inventory of all hardware and software resources. * Maintains excellent communication with the IT Manager on all tasks and projects. * Develops, maintains, and monitors procedures for all server backups. * Creates and maintains good technical documentation. * Provides rotating on-call schedule required * Performs other duties as assigned.
Requires BS/BA degree. Requires 2-5 years experience. * Experience with NetBackup & Backup Exec * Installing, configuring, and troubleshooting Windows 2000 / 2003 Server OS's on servers along with patches and upgrades * Supporting Active Directory domains * Installation and configuration of server-based applications and utilities including patches and upgrades - specifically, Symantec/Norton and/or McAfee Antivirus software * Managing Security Policies * Pushing antivirus software updates out from the servers to the desktops. * Knowledge of WINS, DNS, and DHCP * VPN, RSA, Vmware setup/support * General server hardware knowledge with the ability to build, upgrade, install, and troubleshoot servers and desktops * Monitoring and supporting server performance * Managing and supporting Microsoft Exchange servers * TCP/IP troubleshooting skills * Microsoft or Cisco certification a plus
