In this excellent Full time job opportunity the Enterprise Datawarehouse Analyst supports the design, development and maintenance of the University's Enterprise Datawarehouse. The purpose of the EDW is to provide a comprehensive, accessible and authoritative store of information assets for senior level decision-making. The incumbent performs work throughout the entire project life cycle of EDW implementations - user requirements gathering and analysis, translation of requirements into technical specifications, technical design, development of ETL and BI layers of the solution, as well as end user support. PL/SQL, OWB, and OBIEE are some of the tools being used. The incumbent works closely with the University's Datawarehouse user community, senior EDW analysts and other UIT technical teams to ensure that the EDW and the Business Intelligence (BI) reports reflect timely, relevant and accurate information for decision-makers. The incumbent also authors system documentations, troubleshoots and resolves production problems and makes recommendations for system and process enhancements.
Knowledge:
SKILLS MATRIX:
Operating systems: Unix, Windows (BASIC). Programming Languages: SQL, PL/SQL (ADVANCED), Java, JavaScript (INTERMEDIATE). Data Warehousing: ETL, Repository, OWB, BI (eg OBIEE, Cognos) (INTERMEDIATE). Directory Services: LDAP, Active Directory (BASIC). Applications: Web Browser, Excel, Word, Visio, Project (INTERMEDIATE).
Education:
University degree in computer science, or equivalent.
Experience:
3 years of continuous and progressive experience using SQL and PL/SQL in a Datawarehouse development environment, in the last 5 years. Preference will be given to those with extensive data warehousing and Business Intelligence applications knowledge. Experience in higher education sector would be an asset.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in order to effectively interact with both technical and non-technical users (written and oral); exceptional ability in requirements gathering and translating user needs into system requirements; must have a strong customer service orientation; exceptional analytical, evaluative and technical problem solving skills; solid and practical knowledge of: BI and data warehousing concepts, relational databases, star schema, design entity relational diagrams; thorough understanding of full system development life cycle; ability to work independently, set priorities and work effectively under pressure; ability to perform effectively as part of a team (internal and/or external resources); ability to exercise tact and diplomacy; ability to deal calmly and effectively with people; ability to multi-task and meet long/short term deadlines; ability to attend accurately to detail; ability and willingness to keep abreast of technological developments with strong ability to adapt quickly to rapidly changing environments; excellent organizational skills; ability to maintain confidentiality; ability to write clear, concise documentation.
