Primary responsibility is participating as an effective team member in the implementation, deployment and support of the company’s product for its clients including server setup, network configuration, and application deployment. Accountability for the following systems: Linux and Windows systems that support GIS infrastructure; Linux, Windows and application systems that support asset management; Responsibilities on these systems include SA engineering and provisioning, operations and support, maintenance and research and development to ensure continual innovation.
Major Responsibilities
Develop, document, and perform network, server, and workstation administration procedures and guidelines
Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions
Install new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements
Research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated approaches for system administration tasks. Identify approaches that leverage our resources and provide economies of scale
Perform deployment, maintenance, and support for new mission-critical servers and applications. Analyze impact on existing, related resources and recommend upgrades as necessary
Develop business case justification and cost/benefit analysis for Linux and Windows spending initiatives
Monitor, optimize and recommend upgrades for corporate Internet/Intranet systems and services
Analyze alternatives regarding company expenditures for hardware and software and submit recommendations and justifications
Install and perform repairs to hardware, software, and peripheral equipment, following design or installation specifications
Setup equipment for company use, performing or ensuring proper installation of cable, operating systems, and appropriate software
Maintain data center environmental and monitoring equipment
Requirements:
Knowledge and Skills:
BS/BA degree preferred in the field of computer or equivalent
