EXCHANGE ADMINISTRATOR

The Exchange Administrator, will report to and work closely with the Network Manager. Responsibilities will consist of design, implementation and maintenance and disaster recovery planning for a Microsoft Exchange 2010 environment. In addition the administrator will help manage the full technical environment including systems administration responsibilities across a wide array of technical services. Provides email, messaging and network administration services firm-wide.  Ensures smooth operation of email, Microsoft Active Directory services, and network fax server solutions.  Monitors systems and ancillary email services for performance and connectivity.  Researches and recommends specific technologies to meet stated firm business objectives as it pertains to email, remote email accessibility, and email security

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Administers Microsoft Active Directory services/security (adds users, groups, objects, with appropriate security levels) and email accounts, mail lists, and general purpose mailboxes


•  Support a multi site Microsoft Exchange 2010 organization in order to meet and maintain appropriate service levels. Administer the messaging environment.  This includes the administration of servers (Configuring, applying service packs, and SSD’s when applicable), monitoring utilization of servers and bridgeheads, administrating third party services for Spam control and email continuity. 


• Administer and support Active Directory, DNS & Microsoft Exchange replication.


• Responsible for planning, testing, tuning, configuration and setup of Microsoft Exchange architecture as well as supporting common email applications (Outlook, Blackberry, PDA based email).


• Manage the appropriate setup of applications hosted via Microsoft Exchange or reliant upon Microsoft Exchange. This includes, but is not limited to Blackberry services.


• Maintain appropriate documentation on the Microsoft exchange environment.


• Provide a point of escalation and support to the Technical Support Group.


• Provide 24/7 on-call support for the e-mail environment.


• Participate in weekend maintenance activities, as required.


• Perform general system administration duties in a Windows Active Directory environment.


• Monitor Windows 2003/2008 (and beyond) servers and troubleshoot problems.


• Support, maintain and administer third party applications.


• Produce appropriate documentation for application deployment, configuration, and related processes.


• Enforce change management and compliance processes.


• Work as a technical resource on assigned projects.


• Help Manage network system backups and provide a comprehensive disaster recovery plan for E-mail services


• Participate in disaster recovery planning, testing and response.


• Perform routine preventative maintenance on all hardware on a routine and scheduled basis.


• Perform network troubleshooting to isolate and diagnose common network problems.


• Position is expansive and additional responsibilities can be added..


• Participates in Network Security policies, monitoring, and related procedures.  This includes email security, and filtering, both Microsoft Exchange and Microsoft Server security updates and service packs. 


• Proactively monitors system resources and advises management of corrective action steps required to meet service level expectations.


• Provides complete documentation; ensures designated backup is kept up to date in order to perform all tasks.


• Offers suggestions for procedures and policies necessary for the efficient and effective operation of the firm’s computer systems and data communications networks.  Exchanges factual information with user-department personnel ascertaining project needs and assisting other personnel in collecting data to be used in systems analysis and programming.


• Places service calls when necessary.
