Overview
Our client requires an Extension Support Engineer. The O&G Extensions team is responsible for the implementation and support of the standard extensions made to OASyS in order to effectively deliver O&G projects. As a component of that support, an explicit Support Engineer has been identified as needed to provide that tier 2 and beyond support.
Role and Responsibilities
This Support Analyst/Engineer is tasked with:
Providing support to Project Delivery teams with respect to the Oil & Gas extended OASyS DNA baseline (including Oil & Gas Protocol Drivers and Business Logic Layers).
Assessment of Support Desk Inquiries (SDIs) and Software Exception Reports (SERs) and providing solutions to them.
Assisting in trouble-shooting complex problems experienced by End Users and/or Project Delivery teams related to the Oil & Gas extended OASyS DNA baseline applications.
Preparation of documentation and presentations to educate users of baseline products, including White Papers, Wiki reports, Internals documentation, PowerPoint presentations, etc.
Actively facilitating communication between all stake-holders regarding issues being investigated.
Adhering at all times to proper usage of prescribed software development and maintenance procedures.
Qualifications
Required Skills
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related discipline such as Math, Physics or Geosciences, with 3+ years related post-secondary experience in software/systems development, preferably in the Oil & Gas industry, OR
A Technology Diploma with 5+ years related post-secondary experience in software/systems development, preferably in the Oil & Gas industry
Strong analytical ability - break down a complex problem into parts; analyze facts to find significant elements without getting lost in the details; present findings clearly and concisely
Innovation and Creativity - identify areas of improvement within the work unit; propose new ideas to effectively resolve issues and situations
Working knowledge of software development for highly-redundant, mission-critical systems
Firm understanding of criticality of live production systems; how and when to implement fixes in a live operational production environment
Program and review software source code in C, C++ and C# or MS SQL Server stored procedures, triggers etc.
Demonstrated experience with troubleshooting tools such as windbg and Visual Studio Debugger. Familiarity with other tools such as memory usage analyzers a plus.
Experience with the client's OASyS DNA applications and Oil & Gas protocols are highly desirable
