The Field Technician demonstrates a high level of proficiency in performing all activities associated with installing, servicing and maintaining a wide range of products that Pitney Bowes services in a geographic territory. This position requires strong electromechanical skills in order to troubleshoot and repair properly. In addition, A certification and personal computer literacy/skills are required. All aspects of revenue-generating functions such as Service Level Agreement (SLA) sales, billable labor and parts/supplies are part of the Field Technician responsibilities.


Dimensions of Position:
* Maintains high level of equipment up time through knowledge of products and customer requirements. Combines competent functional knowledge of equipment with customer application(s) and use. Plans and coordinates installations through Project Leader or Enterprise Project Manager. Responsibilities will include repair of a wide variety of multi-vendor products including laser printers, thermal printers, folding and inserting equipment, and kiosks.
* Successfully completes PB-based training programs and keeps current with applicable technologies through formal and informal education.
* Contributes to revenue growth through solicitation and sales of billable consulting services, parts, labor, SLA's and other programs including supplies, etc. Maintains current knowledge of revenue enhancement opportunities across Sales/Service/Direct Marketing spectrum. Provides added value to customer through recommendation of billable consulting services and upgrade of SLA's or other means: parts, supplies, etc.
* Protects Pitney Bowes revenues by ensuring integrity of metered mail. Understands and maintains statutory requirements of metered mail system with United States Postal Service and educates customer.
* Adheres to all statutory and company mandated safety regulations and informs customers and/or internal staff of any and all concerns.

Qualifications / Requirements:
* A Certification (proof of certificate required)
* Proven performance (a minimum of 1 year) in field technical service and customer relations for complex business equipment and systems such as but not limited to mailing equipment, inserters, laser and thermal printers, kiosks, copiers, facsimile machines, LAN, telecommunications equipment, ATM machines
* Mailing/Shipping industry knowledge preferred
* Specialization in electromechanics, electronics and computer hardware/software required
* PC literacy including working knowledge of MS Office suite required
* Ability to troubleshoot hardware, software and peripheral device problems
* Ability to read and interpret schematics, charts, service manuals and parts diagrams required
* Ability to actively solicit and deliver new billable consulting services
* Strong oral and written communication and organization skills
* Excellent listening, interpersonal and observation skills
* Ability to adapt to changing environment in the areas of products and technology, customer personalities and customer knowledge levels
* Ability to transport/lift up to 50 lbs. with or without accommodation
* Overtime work or stand-by services will be required as determined by customer requirements
* A valid driver's license with a good driving record and reliable transportation required
* This job requires use of the individual's personal vehicle on the job, travel expense reimbursements occur monthly
* Willingness to occasionally travel long-distance for training and customer visits required
* Willingness to travel through out the Savannah, GA/Hilton Head SC area
* Willingness to submit to a pre-employment drug screen, MVR and criminal background check
