Field Service Technician - Thermal Spray
Global manufacturer of complex electromechanical equipment needs a field service engineer to install, integrate, calibrate , and adjust thermal spray equipment. This equipment is used in a heavy industrial application, where high temperature ceramic coatings are applied to extend the wear of tooling or manufactured parts and components.
This is a great opportunity to work for a growing company, a world leader in the thermal spray industry. This job is located in the Connecticut area, and the client has a preference to find someone who lives in CT or NY. Relocation to the region may be available.
To qualify, you should have experience with complex PLC (such asABB or Fanuc) controlled electromechanical equipment. Some background with thermal spray equipment, or other complex PLC-based equipment which uses a vacuum chamber, may be appropriate. You should have experience working with industrial customers, and with training of factory personnel.
You will be responsible for visiting customers in your region to install, calibrate, troubleshoot, and perform safety inspection on all equipment. You will train customers on using the systems, including robotic programming, and interface to other systems. You will test, analyze, inspect, and adjust precision electromechanical instruments according to company engineering standards, and international safety standards.
You will be expected to complete reports about field visits, including reports about the nature of problems encountered, their causes and their resolution. The position will require extensive travel, about 80% of the time. You will be expected to fill in for other field service technicians in other regions. You must also be available for international assignments.
Requirements:
AAS degree required, Bachelor’s degree is a plus. Must have at least three years’ experience in technical field service, and service support standard procedures. Must have experience dealing with industrial customers, and working on capital equipment used in factories. Must have experience with computer controller machinery, a good understanding of electrical requirements, troubleshooting of electromechanical equipment is required. Should have experience in providing training to customers’ in-house technical staff.
