Posted Position Title Field Technician Career Level Experienced Function Services Function Segment Field Services Location Canada U.S. State, China or Canada Provinces Ontario City Shelburne Relocation Assistance No Role Summary/Purpose The Field Technician position is a key part of the GE Wind Energy team and plays an essential role in the growth of wind energy services. Essential Responsibilities * Comprehend and perform wind turbine repairs, operations and maintenances on 1.5 and 2.5 MW GE wind turbine generators (WTG).
* Evaluate multiple fault records to increase mean time between failures.
* Troubleshoot 5 to 1000 V AC/DC circuits and operate GE control systems.
* Perform multiple daily climbs of +200 feet to perform annual or semi-annual maintenances, troubleshoot and repair failures which may occur, and collect data.
* Analyze daily computer generated power production reports.
* Conduct electronic troubleshooting using wire and block diagram schematics.
* Position requires travel for training and assisting other wind parks and work rotating shifts on weekends. Qualifications/Requirements * Four-year college degree in applied technology, mechanical and/or electrical curriculum, minimum of 4 years of experience in maintenance and service of heavy, automated equipment and machinery preferably wind turbines.
* Min of 2 years of experience with electrical components, PLC programming, automation and motion control.
* Minimum of 2 years of experience in repairing mechanical and electro/mechanical components involving hydraulics, pneumatics and electrical components.
* Electrical and mechanical certifications will be considered as an advantage.
Eligibility Requirements:
* Valid driver's license
* Acceptable driving record
* Ability to climb steel towers up to 280' on a daily basis
* Flexible working hours, ability to travel and perform the work at various site locations Desired Characteristics * Black Belt certified (Internal GE candidates only).
